Is your depression getting better because of my lot?

When I first came to my lot ,I was very depressed. I knew I needed to talk to people and because I can't go anywhere, unless my husband drives, I couldn't drive to a support group every week. I have started getting up a little earlier. Still having problems with my sleep, but right now so much is happening in my life that I don't think that can be helped. I've always been an insomniac of sorts anyways. But I really feel that having friends here on my lot is helping me a lot. Like today when I rode my bike, that was a big step for me, actually leaving my yard without having an anxiety attack!lol. Have any of you been helped by your friendships on my lot? Maybe working towards better mental health, and maybe not even realizing it because your friends here give you a good attitude or a better outlook on life and you can now see past that depression and know that through the help on my lot you feel yourself wanting to do more?

Its good that MyLot has helped you with your depression. I am happy for you. So far everyone has had a positive response and I don't want to be a party pooper or negative. Just one honest incident I was feeling low today and I got on MyLot and checking some of my started responses and came across a negative response it sort of made me feel a little bit more sadness but I am a strong person and I beat it.
I can't take this stuff to heart, I guess I am getting sensitive in my old age.
MyLot has helped me a lots also I have made many new friends and I am making more each day. I am learning as I go even some of the responders. It's all being yourself.

i think it goes both ways for me on here.. i do better but there are some discussions that bring up memories from my past and post traumatic stress starts acting up so i have to stay away from some areas and some discussions or i start getting all thinking about past crap.. other wise it has been ok for it

yah, at some point i can say mylot's one of the ways in which i can just let it all out. especially when i dont have anyone to lean on, when theyre all just too busy for other things and forgets to check on me. even the ones i considered my closest friends. its good to have some outlet for my feelings :)

I guess myLot gives us a possibility to talk to other people which is not always possible in the real life - there is so much stress in the world and the natural communication, which we are created to have is not always there.
If we do something good to each other, maybe help someone who is having problems, helps us to concentrate on other things than our own situation. It is so satisfactory to do good to others, that it starts the happiness hormone working in our body - it is the same hormone that we can benefit from when we go outdoors and run or walk or do some athletics..
I have also had great help from cold pressed Omega3, Salmon Oil, together with cold pressed veg oils. They are like food for the brain and make us feel much happier. I have not had an anxiety attack since I started to take the good oils together with other food supplements and nowadays I also have learned what sort of fats I want to avoid if I wish to feel happy...

I think that is wonderful for you. I am so glad that you have found friends that have helped you. I think one of the best cures for depression is to keep your mind busy on positive things so you do not think about the things that make you depressed. It is not easy to do but this place does help.
I find that this site helps me in that way as well. It takes my mind off my troubles so I do not think about them all the time. I read people's posts here and think about their problems and try and help them think about the problems in a different light and trying to help other people helps me be more positive in my own life.
I know what its like to be depressed and not be able to go anywhere. I have not been able to drive for a year but in my case it is because of pain in my left arm. I do have my partner to talk to which is wonderful but it is nice to talk to other people on mylot. Yes I would say that this site has helped me.

Actually I'm not depressed, just stressed and mylot has helped me cope with that stress. With this kind of work that I'm doing having mylot to pour out my sentiments helps me to cope with the stress I experience at work.

Hi freefogging. Mylot is surely a stress-buster. I had discussed about this in some of my earlier discussions and when I saw your discussion I had to comment. I would recommend logging in to Mylot whenever when one feels low and try and have a discussion where your mind would get diverted from your stress and you would get engaged in other problems/fantasies people encounter around the world. Not only that, as you've rightly said it brings about a change in your mindset and will affect your life positively in many ways.

I did suffer from depression in the past but I think it has disappeared now! I am currently on anti-depressents though, I havent' been on them that long. Since joining My Lot I have been feeling quite content! This is a good place to be where you can share your views and so forth. The anti-depressents make me feel quite tired so I'm nodding off occasionally when I sit down! You are right though about having friends here on My Lot! I'm sure that there is a lot of support for you here. It's a shame about the sleeping problems that you have been having. I too have been finding it difficult to get to sleep at night! I don't know whether this relates to the anti-depressents or not! I would have thought that these contributed to my getting to sleep as they make me feel so relaxed and calm. Anyway, since writing in My Lot I have been smiling with satisfaction!!! Andrew

Mylotting does help to get all the thoughts out of your mind but you still have to get up and change your life for the better to get rid of it totally. It is like trying to solve a problem by just thinking about it. Sometimes the responses in these discussions do help but you have to take them positively and decide what you want to do then put it all into action. Best of luck and happy mylotting.

Yes I understand that, which is why I make myself get out of bed everyday. I have a 3-4 time a week gentle (for my fibromyalgia) exercise routine which includes, treadmill, stretching, yoga, light weight lifting to keep toned. Yes I believe you have to get up off the couch,so to speak and do something ,but mylot has given me the "verbal" friendships, and the encouragement that you give and get in a real friendship to keep this going and lift a little more of the depression. I have, but one true friend in this world outside of my family and she is here right now!! From Michigan, she will be here 7 days and she is beautiful inside and out. She arrived yesterday and she is trying to get out of a bad situation,so now I'm the supporter and she needs the support. And I'm up to it, and I don't think I would have been as healthy inside myself enough to help her if it wasn't for my friends on mylot. I know some of you don't take this seriously and say oh this is just another chatroom. But that's not the experience I'm getting out of it. And it has done me a world of good. Even my therapist says that whatever I do, do not pull away from my lot (I tend to pull away sometimes and go into my own little world) But I know it won't happen this time, there will be times when I might not pop in for a while but I WILL BE BACK!! you can count on it!!

No not really. Spending a few hours on myLot may take my mind off of things, but when I take a look at how much money I made ($0.27), it makes me even more depressed.

It depends for me, sometimes when I an feeling depressed I get sign on to Mylot and and just post away and things seem to be better but other times i just want to sleep, or go shopping, I guess it really depends of how I am feeling at the time.

I'm so pleased to know that myLot is helping you in this way. I think it helps me too, in many ways, though I'm lucky I no longer suffer depression as I used to do.
I think it's lovely to be able to communicate with people around the world, and there are always some active myLot friends posting and responding whenever I come here. I can catch up with what people have posted while I was asleep and I make new friendships all the time.
I think there is a lot of positivity and good attitude here. I find I can discuss things that I never get a chance to talk about otherwise. I don't get to do much socializing, and I love a good discussion!
