AMD has caught up with Intel only to let Intel take back its lead. In terms of speed and performance, they are just about the same. Buy AMD if you want to get the most value out of your money. But if you have cash to spend, go for Intel. AMD tend to get too hot too fast and more heat means more energy consumed. More heat also means you need a better cooling system making it noisy. Intels Core2Duo consumes lesser energy but could break your wallet.

Very well said Krkchn! Intel holds the lead to this date, we will soon see maybe late this year when AMD releases its 8 core, that is from last I've read but still these are performance promises and it can only be seen on actual use of hardware evaluators. So you could go for intel today or wait a bit more.

AMD is cheaper but it gets pretty hot when operating, and the opposite goes to intel. in terms of performance, intel has an edge in general or in average but AMD is better for games.

I would go for the Intel simply because the 2 AMDs I have owned have both been under performing, over heating piles of rubbish.
Besides the only reason AMD are where they are today is because they spend there lives stealing Intels technology and research. I read somewhere AMD took Intel took to court because Intel knew something AMD didn't so they moaned that it wasn't fair, babies.

My technicians said, Only the experiences user will choose AMD for their processors It depends on what you need exactly, do you choose performa or price? If performa then C2D is the answer, throw away in your mind if you choose Dual Core, it's jerk things, intel then C2D the best ... if you have budget limit, then AMD is the answer, AMD is good for me, i use AMD X2 and it works great for me!
So what's your decision?

Hi... I am using AMD but i found out that AMD can only run faster if you are running a software. For Intel processor you can do a lot of thing at once. It can run smoothly although you run 2 or 3 software at once. So when you are doing assignment you can listen to some musics. If you are using AMD maybe it will lag a bit. Actually both have it own benefits. If you seldom run a lot of software at once then i suggest you to get AMD. Its speed for running a software is more faster than Intel. Happy Myloting!!!

I have always used Intel for my processor. I have never tried AMD. I head AMD is really good also though. I have taken alot of surveys about both of these and they both seem to be up to par.
