Craigs List. I've heard a lot about it and finally checked it out!

I'm hearing it everywhere... use Craigslist; go to Craigslist; you should try Craigslist. Well, I finally got curious enough to take a peek, and I just applied for a freelance job! I don't know if I'll get it or not, but I was amazed at all of the 'work-at-home' jobs they have listed there! My experience and background is mainly in proofreading. I was a proofreader for a couple of decades, mainly working from my home. When the companies I worked with began sending their work overseas, I got out of that business, but it has always been my favorite, my chosen profession. Craigslist has quite a lot of different types of freelance jobs, most of which you do working from your home. I wish I had known about this earlier! So, if you're looking for work you can do from your home, check out Craigslist! They have data entry, copy writing, proofreading, all kinds of work! I wanted to pass this on to anyone who is looking for this type of work in case you haven't seen it for yourselves. Just type in "craigs list" in your search bar.

congratulations upon getting another chance on this online making money. I am using work from home hq, for using craigslist .. it is a free posting. But, I live in India. It requires PHONE VERIFICATION. Please keep us updated about the opportunity that YOU get,and do tell us the amounts that you are making out of that. And, share us some more, if you find them worth sharing.

I had known about craigslist for years now. I go on there to look for freelance work under my city (seattle) and there are times when there is hardly any. If you go under googling it for freelance writing jobs, there are loads of sites that lists places that you can try to apply work at home freelance writing jobs. I love the internet so much without leaving home in order to log on the net. I have my own laptop and despite doing the work on here, I am also on ehow.com If you would want to write for them, use Laurie1979 as your referrer. I always love helping people that would like to get into something like writing. i have been writing since JUly 26 and wish I had done it sooner but a book called writer mama is pretty good. I want my laptop back so I can type better.

Thanks for the heads up about ehow.com, laurie. I'm going to stick with proofreading. Right now, I'm doing legal transcription from home, but prefer proofreading, so I'll wait and see if I can get this job listed on Craigslist. If I don't, I'll keep my eyes open for that type of work, since I spent about 20 years proofreading mainly medical journals and textbooks. Hopefully, someone else here at myLot will read your response and try their hand at ehow. It would be cool to see you get many referrals! Good luck!

Well, I actually am doing something else right now. I'm doing legal transcription from my home via the internet. It pays well (much better than writing articles) and I can work as little or as much as I wish. The only thing is that I prefer proofreading. My degree is in English and I would prefer to utilize that skill first and foremost. I was looking around in Craigslist some more just a few minutes ago and searched in a few different areas near where I live. I found and applied for two more proofreading jobs! These are all freelance, or sub-contract, jobs and pay between $25 and $40 per hour. (That's another reason I LOVE proofreading! LOL)

Thanks a lot. I hope that you would get it for sure. In the meantime, do something else while waiting. One lady on here finally landed a job that will pay her 5k for proodreading and editing something where it is a thousand pages. Keep me updated if you can and I hope that you don't mind me adding you. I am always here to help if I can. Oh yeah. There are many places besides craigslist that lists writing/editing/proofreading jobs. For example, try getting paid for blogging. ONe other way to make and earn income. Every little bit counts.

I too have yet to find anything good there. Still searching the pages from time to time. I will find something some day. I am sure of that. It is just a matter of when I get it.

I'm so sorry for just getting back to your response! One thing about myLot that I don't like is that they don't send you all the responses in an email! I've been noticing that lately. Well, anyway, better late than never, right? I personally haven't found anything I like yet from Craigslist but I haven't been looking very hard, either. Yes, Craigslist is international. I guess you've already noticed that. I hope that, in some small way, I've helped you out a little. Craigslist is quite an interesting website!

Be very careful! There are a lot of scams posted on Craigslist - a lot of them are the same scams that you find elsewhere online - they've just found their way to Craigslist because it's free. I have found a few good buys there, and we found our black lab puppy there - someone that had an apartment and had decided that he was too big to keep confined.

Thanks for the warning, newtondak. I'm very much alert to scams and frauds. You can KNOW that something is a scam when they ask for money upfront from YOU. No legitimate company would EVER do that! I'm not looking for just anything to make money online; I'm looking specifically for proofreading jobs. I have found two more in my general area that I've applied for. They require a BS in English and experience. We shall see, huh? I think that's awesome about your black lab! If I didn't have too many animals already, I'd definitely be looking at some that are offered in Craigslist! I adore cocker spaniels and saw some, but I already have two Maltese dogs and two cats. My husband says, "No more animals!" I don't blame him, especially since I'm the one who takes care of them!

He is just a wonderful dog - he was about 4 months old when we got him - he is about 9 months old now. I, too, have to slap my hands when I look at the animals there. I've been looking for a free piano, but have only found the larger upright style - we'd rather have a console type.

I'll have to check it out again, I haven't been there for a couple of months. Most of their work at home jobs, at least in my area, is the usual scheme where you pay for info or a list of companies that may have jobs. I really need a job! I live in a small town in Ohio and all the jobs I apply for are taken by young people, usually prettier than they are smart.

Is there anything specific that you are looking for? What experience or training do you have? There's another site that I subscribe to called 2work-from-home.com. They send out a weekly email with lists of positions for people to do from home. Some are administrative, transcription, customer service, things like that. You should go there and sign up to get their emails. It's how I got my current job of legal transcription via the internet. I've only seen one scam on that site in the 5 years I've been a member, so they're pretty good. They don't ask your age or even want to see you, so there shouldn't be an issue of discrimination. It IS illegal, but so hard to prove! I despise companies that discriminate! I hope this helps you!

i am right now in craigslist and i have signed in long back but other than posting your resume there is there a choice you have in picking your job that you want to do online from home? and is the mayment made to paypal?

You just have to keep going back to Craigslist. New jobs are posted there all the time. Sometimes they have what you're looking for, sometimes not. The key is to not give up. As for payments, I'm sure they all have different payment methods but I've noticed that paypal seems to be a very popular form of paying someone so there's a good chance that most of them use that method. Good luck!

Thank you for the information, I used Craig's List yesterday for the first time, listing a computer for sale, and sold it immediately. But I never though to look for work on there. But will sure check it out as I have been looking for some work at home employment.

Thanks for this post mentalward. This is somethng my wife is very interested in and coming from a friend who has very little to gain by by posting it, makes it especially interesting. We will be looking into this and she ,mmore than likely, will be responding to this discussion.

Aw, shucks! Even if I don't make a penny from everyone's responses, I'm glad I could share this. I just wish I had checked it out sooner! There's like a gazillion things listed on craigslist, but they're under headings, or sub-headings, so that makes it easier. I really haven't checked it all out yet because I literally JUST did it this morning and I've been busy getting ready for a doctor's appointment so I didn't have the time to peruse it like I want to. Sigh! Guess it'll have to wait til I get back. I hope your wife will check it out and can find something totally suited for her. Having spent most of my life working from home, I can attest to the fact that it really is the coolest thing!!!! You just don't get the benefits you get from being an employee when you're freelance or subcontracted; you get different benefits like working in your jammies and avoiding rush-hour traffic!

My daughter was just talking about this very thing the other day. She was all excited and was very interested in it. I haven't spoken to her in a few days so I don't know how she made out. I hope these jobs aren't scams. She said she would be applying for a free lance job also.

For some reason I've been getting lots of emails from Craigslist. I haven't paid any attention to them and just deleted the emails. Maybe I need to look at them more closely.

I believe the emails you're receiving are spam. I didn't look closely at craigslist but, apparently, you can become an affiliate and promote it. I wouldn't respond to any of those emails if I were you simply because they ARE spam. If you want to check it out, go there directly instead of via an email. P.S. I delete all those emails I get for Craigslist, too.

They probably are spam. I've never wanted to open one. But I always run my cursor over any link in an email before I open anything on the Internet to find out if it really goes where it says it does. If it is spam, it always tells me that the link listed in the email is not the same as the link itself, which tells you it's a spam. I'll check it out, though, directly.

Hi mentalward! Well thank you for the info! I also have heard all about Craigs list, but have never checked it out! I am also looking for work at home positions. I'm not doing too well with the writing stuff so I really need to do something more stable. I also did proofreading professionally along with wordprocessing, data entry, medical transcription, legal secretarial work and I have a wide variety of things that I probably could do. I guess I should check it out. I really appreciate your letting me know this. Maybe it will give me the right push that I need to actually take a look. I'm really not getting anywhere with the things that I've done so far. I need a more substantial way to make to make a real paycheck the submitting work that might or might not get accepted I wish that I could pm you but my pm's here at mylot don't work. After I subit they disappear into thin air. I keep writing to mylot and never get a response.

I know that there are a lot of medical transcription jobs that you can find online to work from home. Even though I've proofread medical journals and textbooks for 20 years, I don't have medical terminology or medical transcription experience and was VERY lucky to find the legal transcription job that I have now. The place I work for uses general and legal transcriptionists. It's called Speak-Write, Inc. (www.speak-write.com). I don't think they're hiring right now, but they might be if you'd like to check them out. They pay pretty well for working at home, around $10.00 to $12.00 per hour and you get to choose how many hours you'd like to work every day. But, from what I've seen, there are a lot of work-at-home companies that use medical transcriptionists. You could probably find some on Craigslist. There's also a site that I subscribe to called 2work-from-home.com. They send out weekly emails with a list of jobs you can apply for if you qualify, like medical transcription, customer service, etc. You should go there and apply, too. There's plenty of stuff you can do online if you have experience and/or training in specific areas, and you sure do seem to be qualified for a lot of them. I'm sorry that your pm's aren't working! I don't know what would cause that. But if you want to ask me anything, you can do it from here and I'll see it and try to answer you as well as I can.
