Why do some people make other people's business their business?

Are there people around who are keeping their eyes on you? I had a neighbor whom I never had spoken to. We became classmates in the university. She was fond of spreading gossips about me which i never mind until she was kicked out of the university because of cheating. Now, we're both married and got a son. I am presently employed as a government employee. She shifted to a different course and had never completed it up this time. I have totally forgotten all about her and the gossips she was telling about me but just a few months ago I found out she's continuously spreading some gossips about me which I don't get the point of her doing it so? I don't say or anything about her. Why do you think she's doing this to me? How about you? Do have any experience similar to mine?
