Detroit has been without a "real" professional football team for a long time.

Detroit needs to have a professional football team with a winning tradition. Unfortunately, the Detroit Lions do not qualify. Year after year we witness mediocrity at the highest level. Losing records are a custom around here. I like to watch football. Perhaps one of these decades, the Detroit Lions will perform as a professional football team should.

well i think detroits biggest problem the past years has been that they havent had a good quarterback. i cant think of one at all. jon kitna ( their qb now) isnt good and has never been good. the only reason he had a little bit of success last season is cuz mike martz was the coach and all he does is pass the ball. and he has good recievers to throw to. i think another problem is that their drafting sucks. they picked a wr in the first round like the past 4 years. not including this year. they could have gotten a quarterback who can actually lead a team. if you look at winning teams' roster, you will notice that they almost always have a good qb and offensive line. those 2 things and defense are the keys to winning. any running back can rush for over a thousand yards ina season if the line blocks for them. and anyone can catch a football thrown right to them and placed right.

Their general manager keeps wrecking that team. It is funny how everyone else has been fired, players, coaches, you name it but yet that millen guys stays and they stink. You would think the owner would bring in a general manager who wouldn't draft 8 wide receivers in a row and have half of them leave the team or get cut. Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Charles Rodgers, all number 1 picks for the Lions that aren't even on the team any longer.

My ex-husband was a HUGE Detroit fan. He was born in Hillsdale. He always gave me a hard time because I'm a Cowboys fan. Well, my boys have made it to the Super Bowl, and won. He always was such a sore loser.
Since his passing, I have always said that now he gets to watch his boys lose up close and personal. He's running up and down the sidelines screaming at the refs for all the bad calls, and yelling at the players for their crappy conduct.
I'm sorry. I'm not trying to add salt to your already wounded sports ego. I'm just commenting on your choice of teams and how it relates to me.
Well, it's the start of a brand new season. Maybe they can pull out a miracle!!
