Do people usually think the jokes you tell are funny?

I don't consider myself a comedian or anything like that, although if you ask my wife, she'd probably say something contrary to my statement.
Anyway, the reason for this discussion is to find out what is the most people you have told a joke to in real life not online through the computer, and did they like the joke you told, did they boo you or what happened?
As for me, I told a joke to about 175 people at my job's HR monthly meeting. They all thought it was great. I received several responses after the meeting, "man that was a funny joke, I've got to remember that one."
The joke is not original, and I'm sure some of you have already heard it before.
For those of you that know this one already, did you laugh again?
There was a priest, a young boy (12yrs), a lawyer and a doctor taking a private plane ride from New York to London. The priest was reading over his next Sunday sermon, the young boy playing his gameboy, the lawyer on his cell phone and the doctor studying a new procedure manual for his upcoming surgery.
The pilot came over the intercom, alright folks we will be landing within the next 15 minutes; I would like to thank everyone for flying with us today.....Just then, everyone heard a loud noise, followed by another loud noise. The pilot was in shock, he back over the intercom, oh no this is bad, very bad.
Next the passengers on this private plane trip saw the pilot over the cockpit doors, and shout to everyone, I am SO sorry, but the plane just lost all power to both engines, we're going to crash. He then opened the doors to the outside and grabbed a parachute bag and shouted "every man for himself" and jumped out the plane.
The doctor jumped up and said well I heal people, so I've got to live. He grabbed a parachute bag and jumped out the plane as well. The lawyer jumped up and said, well I'm the smartest man in the world, so I've got to live as well, he grabbed a bag and jumped out the plane.
The priest was the only one that knew why the private airline was so inexpensive, it was because there were only 4 parachute bags and the pilot, the doctor and lawyer had just taken 3 of the parachute bags leaving only 1 left. So he turned to the young boy and said, "young man, you have your whole life ahead of you; so take the last parachute bag and live it to the fullest and honor God in the process."
The young boy turned to the priest, "I'm not sure why you are telling me this, because there are two parachute bags left to be used; let's both use one each and live." The priest said "how is that possible?" As he began to put on one of the parachute bags, he yelled out, "THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS MIRACLE! and for your saving grace."
The young boy said, I don't know much about miracles, but the smartest man in the world took my book-bag instead of a parachute bag. So, he said, "Thank you Lord we were not in a hurry to save ourselves and didn't give thought to others!"
The priest, said "Amen."
The priest, pilot, doctor, young boy all lived. The End!
Did you laugh?
Disclaimer: To all of those in the legal profession, I didn't make this joke up, I simply modified it to my christian upbringing.

I've always been a really poor joke teller. I can know it off by heart, have told it plenty of times but I always manage to mumble and completely mess up the timing.
I've always been more improv, and can be really witty sometimes (much to my mates annoyance lol) as I really like to lighten the mood and make everyone laugh, yet I hate being the centre of attention, so it's kind of a minor paradox :(

Thanks for your honesty, and welcome to the mylot family. Enjoy having the opportunity to express your own opinions at your own pace and personality. For some mylotters, they are seasoned veterans already, others log on once in a while. Whatever your reason is, make the most of it. I sure am. Did you think the joke above was funny?
