What did you do for Grandparent's Day?

I didn't do anything. I was kinda hurt. I have a new Grandson. He's only 2 months old and I thought I would at least get a phone call. But nothing. Maybe I'm making too much out of it but I've been waiting a long time to be a Grandma. Oh well, maybe next year

Hello lilcee
We don't really celebrate Grandparents Day here in England I don't even think there is a specific day for it, though now I have said that there probably is but I have never been aware of it. I am sorry to hear that your Grandparents Day was a wash out!

For most people it is a "hallmark" holiday, created by the card companies. It doesn't even register on most people's radars. I have kids and it's not something we think about. Maybe we should. I'm sure the Gs would all appreciate it but it's really the rest of the days that matter. Are they grateful and loving to you the other 364 days of the year. It reminds me of Valentine's day. When we were first married, it was of utmost importance as to how we spent it. Now I enjoy it but I'm not as insecure as I was then. Life puts things in perspective. NOW........if they forget your birthday or don't spend anytime with you at the holidays..... see what I mean? Those are just MY thoughts on the subject.

Yeah, birthdays aren't really a big deal in our house anymore since the kids are all grown. We send cards but that's all. We do more for anniversaries. I was just feeling a little down yesterday and that kinda added to it. But I'm better today. It's not a big deal anymore. Thank for the reply.

I know how you feel....but no one in my family knew it was grandparents day...it's not publicized like the other holidays....but I did get to spend it with my little granddaughter going to the zoo......I hope next year when your grandson is a little older your kids will remember to send you a greeting or call.....it's so wonderful being a grandparent maybe we should just hold a celebration ourselves!

Oh, I'm so sorry lilcee. I should admit I have never given Grandparents' Day a thought until I saw your post. My grandparents from both side have already passed away so I guess that is why I don't think about it. But Belated Happy Grandparent's Day!
Boyfriend's brother has a little girl and he always makes it known when we forget to greet him on Father's Day. I guess Boyfriend is more into celebrating their dad and does not really think about his brother also being a dad. Take care lilcee.

Hi, thanks for your reply. That's ok. I'm over it already. I'm sure they didn't mean to forget. We're not used to celebrating Grandparents Day. My parents and my husbands parents are all deceased so there aren't any Grandparents in our family anymore (except us LOL). So I didn't let it bother me long.
