Where will you believe? Science or Religion?

For you guys, which will you believe in? Both sides have different explanations/conclusions on how did this whole thing started.. on where the whole universe started.. But not been proved yet.. only conclusions... religion have the bible that tells the story of everything.. but where did it really came from? I've seen the bible and noticed there is no author in it.. so another question.. who really made it? There are people who lived long time ago that maybe possible that only normal people with imaginary minds made the bible.. About science.. science have lots of conclusion.. they say we came from apes etc etc.. but the question is that... where did that apes came from? And if there are dinosaurs living here in the world before us, then apes are animals too.. so that means apes are one of the animals who first lived in the earth... but where did those animals came from? Did they just like POOF or something like magic appearing? I need your opinions guys...

I shall give you the most scientific explanation of the Genesis that you will ever find. God is God and man is man. We are but waters cupped in our tiny little hands as compared to the greatness of God like the vastness of the ocean. That is where my logic lies. And now for some things to ponder on: God created the universe in 7 days. God was the only one present during the Creation, so it was 7 God-days. Our days are different from God. Every day may have been equal to a millennium and thus giving space to the evolution of the universe. For every day that he created, a millennium (or more!) passed and the earth evolved. The BIG BANG happened, the living organisms *poofed* out of no where in the oceans, they crawled out of the sea and evolved into land animals and later into ferocious dinosaurs... you get my drift. Have you ever read the Creation story? Didn't it ever astound you with its logic? Why didn't God create man FIRST? We are the most important aren't we? - It's because he first had to make sure that Man will live when he puts him in the universe. When God created Adam and Eve he created them in his Image and likeness. But what is God like? Doesn't he change? What if God's idea of man when he created him was that of an ape and later allowed him to evolve into what we are now? People just keep on telling me that the Universe came from a condensed ball of energy that *Kaboomed!* into planets and planetoids and whatnot and after millenniums, the universe is as we know it today. I see that perfectly aligned with religion! Let me ask the people who shun the Creation story and believe solely in the Big Bang Theory: Where did that big condensed ball of energy come from? WHO put it there? I say it's God. AMEN :D

This is my very question onto you... that makes me ask everytime i see God's image or everytime i pass by onto a church... where did God came from? if god really created everything... well then... who did create God? Sorry to question but this is what i really wanna know... You can't make yourself BY yourself isn't it? Who made God? And then who made God's Creator (if anyone exist).. Sorry if i can't stop these questions...

God IS. No one created God. That's why he's God. He's not like us that has to be created. He just is. Our finitude does not permit us to understand God in his fullness. We do not even understand fully our very own purpose, how can we understand God? "I am the alpha and the omega"; "I am the beginning and the end"; God was not born like us. His origins, if he has any, cannot be grasped by our tiny little heads. And just as that, God does not die like us. This is pretty hard to swallow and I won't tell you "HAVE FAITH!" because that statement won't do you any good. Why don't we put it this way, and let me answer your question with the same question that I ended my previous post: If you believe in Science and the Big Bang Theory, where do you think that condensed ball of energy came from? If you answered God then you have just proven to yourself that there IS a God. And for now, that's as much as we can understand :) And no, I don't mean that God exists because I'm stupid. I know that God exists because my logic directs me to that conclusion. I'm sorry for the indirect answer, but in a one-liner answer to your question. I could have just simply said "I don't know". But I like sharing my faith so I thought I'd share more than that unhelpful sentence.

Wow, you sure asked some "loaded" questions. First off, I believe all religions are man-made in an attempt for us humans to try to understand that which we can not. Like anything that is conceived by humans, I believe that religion can be both bad and good, depending on the individual. For example, if Christianity inspires a person to be a better person (loving, generous, caring, etc...) then awesome. On the other hand, there are thousands of examples throughout history where an individual has used Christianity to "control the masses" so to speak and as a excuse to start wars, etc... The same goes for ANY religion. In short, religion itself is not bad but rather depends on the "user". I much prefer the term "spirituality" rather than "religion". What is the Bible? Well, I have always viewed it as a collection of various texts, written at different times. I do not believe it is imaginary - exagerated at times - yes. Within every "myth" or "legend" there is usually some truth to it. I also believe that it is also the author's attempt to describe what they do not understand. Personally, I do not believe it was "inspired" by God. Do you know that there are numerous "books" or texts that were used by the early church that were not included in what we know as the Bible - such as Revelation of Peter, Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Thomas, etc...? Basically, in Carthage, leaders decided on guidelines as to what book would be a part of the Bible. Heck, even within Christianity, the Protestant and the Catholic Bibles are not exactly the same. The Catholic bible has some more books in it, like the Macabees. Interestingly, the three major religions - Christianity, Judaism, and Islam share many of the same stories and believe in the same God. (THis is my opinion - I know some people might disagree). I do believe in a "higher being" and I believe that there are many things that we humans will not ever understand due to our limited mental capability. With this said though, I also believe that us humans have not and will never reach our limit. I do believe that we humans have at least a "mind, body, and soul". TO me, science is the mind and to disregard science and the discoveries and theories of science is doing a disservice to oneself and to humanity. Is science imperfect? Of course, but it is a search for the "perfect", for the laws that govern our universe, for the answers to our questions. Is religion and spirtuality imperfect? Of course - but it is a search for the truth just as much as science is; however, it is intangible. Just because these two sometimes collide doesn't bother me in that I don't feel I have to pick between the two, rather I look at them as being complimentary. Sometimes the "science" part is wrong, sometimes my spiritual views are wrong, but I think that often neither our wrong and both are little snapshots of a movie - I (humans) just haven't connected the two yet.

I would like to add on that well thought out answer. I love what you said about religion and science being complementary. The Church does not hide that there are other books inspired by God. The public is free to seek for them. The Bible as a collection of books (literally means a "library") was specifically collected and bundled together because the theologians believe that is enough for us. It's like asking an expert "what books to read on SQL Server?" That goes the same for the Gospels and the other Gospels. They chose the Evangelists because they best relayed Jesus Christ's stay on earth. And you are correct, the major religions do share a lot of books. In my opinion that would be because they share the same God :D And again I agree with you - one should not disregard science and logic. That would be disgracing God. God created man with his wonderful faculties and to mis-use them or to render them useless is an insult to Him.

Sometimes, I'm really caught up with the ideas that science and religion explain. So I just don't get too curious with those ideas and live my own life. When I study religion and go to church, the story they tell isn't always about ideas that clash with science's ideas, I just care of how I must live as a Roman Catholic for my family, friends, the world and for myself of course. When, I'm in school, studying about the chemical contents physical properties etc of substances doesn't clash with your beliefs in religion so it doesn't matter where you really believe in. And besides, where and how the world began isn't the question you're prompt to know but how your life started and how you live right?

My dear who told you that the Bible has no author? The Bible is the word of God. Around 40 different human authors who are kings, fishermen, priests, government officials, farmers, shepherds, and doctors wrote the Bible in over a period of about 1,500 years but they did it as dictated by the Holy Spirit of God. And therefore it has one Author who is none other than God Himself. The Bible in ((2 Timothy 3:16) states it is “God-breathed”. The human authors wrote exactly what God wanted them to write, and the result was the perfect and holy Word of God (Psalm 12:6; 2 Peter 1:21). Now how can you not believe the holy word of God? Science is done by men to gain a greater understanding of the nature which God created. It searches knowledge through observation and guesswork. While I respect science and the men who made wonderful contribution my belief in God can never be surpassed by anything that science can discover. While men can discover great things through Science, it can never surpass the wisdom of a perfect God.

The men were just used by God, but the Holy spirit was the one dictating them. When you asked somebody to write your thoughts and your words in a book, then you are the author and not the one you used to do the writing. That is how the Bible was done my dear. However, if you feel that the humans are the still the authors, then that is your prerogative and your opinion is always respected.

Theology does not quite state it as you did. God "inspired" the authors of the Bible but the authors are still human persons. They did a good job by letting themselves be inspired and by writing so much, most of which they couldn't even understand nor explain fully. I would like to agree that men will never surpass the wisdom of God. To think that man will even understand a little of God is impossible due to our finitude.

I believe in God, in having a relationship with Him,and when you do He will answer your questions and you won't need to wonder who is right. The scientific world may have a lot of theories but not many proofs. There are quite a few scientists that believe in God and how the world was created. I remember my brother telling me when he was in the Air Force and studing at a university in England one of his science teachers said how could anyone look at the stars and the universe and not belive in God.

Science, it says things more beleivable, they have at least more proof than religion. Plus i don't believe much in things like miracles, god, religion. But there are questions that science haven't answered. Just stop questioning and live the life. Have a nice day.

Well you really have a very good discussion, anyway about in which i will believe science or religion? I believe in religion when it comes who created the whole universe, i believe in the story of the bible, you're asking who's the author of the bible? GOD write it all through his chosen people, God gave his knowledge to in each every author of the the verses. You're right, scientist believe in big bang theory they believe on it on how the universe created and also they believe in evolution, but i still doubt on it, yes, they found some proof about the so called evolution of man thousand years ago but aren't they asking if man really evolves or changes why humans now a days is same as before if truly man evolves. I believe more in bible that GOD created it that there is a GOD a powerful being who created us and the universe, there are things that even science cannot explain.

i couldnt help but poke my head in on this. you will not be able to see the evolution of man within your lifetime, but man has been evolving. i mean look at the maximum height of people like 400 years ago compared to today. they were midgets compared to us. modern man has been on earth for about 40,000 years and we have changed since then. it is now being seen that women are evolving because of new operational procedures like Cesarean birth to have smaller hip bones, and will probably eventually lead to women not being able to go through natural birth. there have been so many things found to support the fossil record. dont get me wrong, i believe in god, but i believe in science also to kind of explain to me what he did.

Well thats a tough question but yeah I believe to both.Eventhough I am not that active going to church or some religion celebration then I still believe to it and in science, yes I believe because there are proofs but learning science is really great thing and both are really interesting so I believe to both.:-0

i personally, am the person that believes in both and thinks that both really do go together. throughout time the view of god has changed from being the creator, to being an angry and resentful god, to being a loving and caring god, and all this affected our view of the world. when we were in school, i read about one of the views of god, it painted him as the clockmaker, meaning god was like a clock maker. he made all the pieces and then joined them together to make them one big functioning clock and he didnt stick his hands in and just let the clock run its course. i think thats how it was. i believe in the big bang, and that god was responsible for that big bang. i believe in evolution but i believe that because of the big bang that god used to create the earth and maybe here was the only place where god stuck his hand in to create the first single celled organisms that eventually happened to change into other things because of environmental reasons. i dont see why it has to be one way or another. i believe in god but not necessarily in the creation story. there are thousands of creation stories but only one evolution theory, and that to me seems a lot easier to understand than god creating everything in a week and having him "plant fossils to confuse us". god doesnt want to lie to us, he wants us to understand his work and his processes.

I believe in the facts that science give to us.. the bible is just a bunch of nonsense text written by lunatics.. The science doesn't tell us that the ape were the first animals lived in earth.. They are just our ancestors, and so, they also had ancestors as we have.. I think that every complex life that exist now, started as a tiny tinny simple particle.. an thought thousands of years here we are.. I don't think that some imaginary think made us from nothing.. that's just crazy..

Hii.. I see it as balanced between this two things, for today we have to hold on science. Everything must can be proved right? But people have a soul too, to feed this soul we need religion, it just matter of faith, so dont try to find a proof that related to religion. Someone who can balance science and religion very well in this life will gain success in his life, thats for me.. :)

I agree with you norgzilla, we cannot separate each other, like you said we need to have faith and we need to feed on our soul, thats when religion is needed, but we also cannot always live in uncertainty, we need to develop as human, thats when science i needed, although I believe eventually all things mention in the religion will be revealed by science, and I say balance is the best option.. cheers :)

I believe god created science. What we can not prove we attribute it to god. As an example we say the universe is made up of stars and stars ultimately of atoms but where did the atoms come from, did god make them? then we discover atoms are made of xyz then we say god made xyz. It's a never ending quest of human beings to find answers to things we don't know and what we don't know we attribute to god. But apart from the physical worl that god has created it is more importand we understand the philosophy behind the religion, religion is like the constitution for our soul and we have to be our own police. Be good, keep mylotting.

I think for the most part i am more of a believer in science. Yes i do sleep with a bible next to my bed and i have been to church and i will pray and a lot of shows i have been watching have a lot to do with religion but for the most part i weigh more towards science. I know its messed up to say but if God is really real i will know when i get there

I believe in science more than I will ever believe in religion because science can be proven, and religious text cannot always be proven. I believe that a higher power created the "Big Bang", after the big bang was created, our world began to evolve. Everything began as a cell, and cells becamed specialized. After those cells began to specialize themselves, they turned into all sorts of things. These cells became aquatic life, some of the aquatic life began to walk onto land, some of the creatures the came onto land became mammals, reptiles, birds, insects and amphibians. These creatures would keep evolving into what we have today.

I trust Science more. Science involves more physical evidence. I also somewhat believe there are things that we can't see. But I'd rather follow the evidence most days. From what I've read in the Bible it's full of stories, not actual facts. There's really nothing in there that we can prove unless we talk to people who were there centuries ago, lol. And who knows how we came about on Earth. I question this every day. But I don't have a fixated view on the subject, I'm open to everything.

hello my friend, in fact,, i believe science.Because follow the experience i learned from the society.I know the development of our country depends on the endeavor of our great scientists, not the religion. But in my heart, i feel the religion is just a good rule in the people's heart to do things in life, but i think the development of the culture society depends on the science a lot.lol,it is just my opinion. good luck to you

I don't believe in either. I am Christian. It may seem as if it's a religion, but, it's more about having a relationship with God and Jesus. There are authors of the bible. Each book of the bible has an author. In some editions of the bible, it'll tell you at the beginning of each book who wrote it. In your basic edition, it does not. Of course, I'm talking King James Version - I don't know about other versions. As about the animals, I believe God created them, then he created Adam and had Adam name them.

I really dont like commenting about this two things but one thing i like to point out is that if you check many of the popular religions, all of them talk about the same thing. Love your family, friends, be a nice person, respect others, and all that stuff. Its all values.... _ just covered up as a "religion". No offense to anyone just my 2 cents ^^ byebye

Harry Potter 6 movie still - This is a high quality movie still from the upcoming movie in the Harry Potter series---Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
In this picture we can see Harry Potter.
Alhamdolillah( All praise be to Allah ) I am a Muslim and I will always believe in what my religion says. when science becomes fact that is when something is incontravertably proved then there is no contradiction between the Holy Quran (last revelation from Allah) and modern science. There are many examples of this you can visit http://www.irf.net for the details. You see everything has been created by Allah and all the laws of nature are also from Allah (God) so when Allah describes something in His book, he cannot be wrong. So, if science and religion contradit on some subject, I'll definitely go for religion i.e. the true religion Islam.
