Update on my personal pet situtation

A while ago, all the fish in my aquarium got Ich and died. I got upset and threw the whole aquarium away. I didn't want to chance that any of the germs survived.
I contemplated getting a turtle or a hamster. My husband said no. Both were too smelly. I was at the petstore yesterday and looked at all my options. A box turtle was $200 and the hamsters were sold out. I did not want a rat!
So, to make a long story short, I got a 1 gallon tank and a pretty blue Betta fish. His name is Buster.
He joins our family pet, Maya, the calico cat.
Any tips or tricks for Betta fish care and success?

Hey Trace. I just wanted to say I am sorry about your fish getting ich. I really don't know from adam about different types of fish though. We (hubby) has a tank full of HUGE goldfish though. (I think there are 5) And 1 pleckel. He (hubby) rarely cleans the tank and it stays as clean and clear as it could possibly be. Our friends marvel at the clarity of it. I have no idea what the secret is. Could be those little algae fighting tablets he throws in every now and again. We also have a cat who passes hours away staring at the silly fish. Now aren't you glad you asked?
Buster...you named your fish? Good for you. Best of luck to Buster and Maya who I am sure loves to watch him like my cat and the silly goldfish!!

I love fish. We have a pretty water garden in our back yard with goldfish in it. We also have a dog and a hamster too. We used to have fish tanks but our fish didn't live very long. the tank constantly had to be cleaned and the fish got ich also. Just make sure to keep your filter clean and feed the beta fish the right beta food.
