Parsley is a strong antioxidant made even more powerful when simmered in soups and stews.Freezing preserves its antioxidant properties, but stir frying and grilling reduces it.
Antioxidants,a group of vitamins linked to a reduced risk of cancer,is suspected of protecting the body against the damage caused by aging cells.Along with celery, cumin and turmeric parsley has been identified as a particularly valuable soldier in the battle against the proliferation of cancer cells. It contains an enzyme that removes cancer-causing molecules.
So,my friends would you like to plant parsley in your garden?

Yes, my dear daughter, I will plant parsley in my garden... side by side with my Rosemary. I just have to know where I could find parsley. I was able to bought Rosemary from the Shopwise but I did not notice if Parsley plants were one of those potted plants sold there. I will surely check out by Saturday.
And so it is better to put parsley in soup and stews! Great! I've been using them as decorations to give good presentation to the food at the table whenever I am hosting a party for my friends. But thanks darling for giving me this wonderful tip. Now I know how else can I make good use of parsley.
Have a nice day!

If parsley is so wonderful then why is it not being used in cancer research? I really enjoy using it to season spaghetti, it is quite tastey!

Parsley is full of flavonoids which is a powerful chemical that aids in the prevention of cancer and can also fight heart disease.Research has identified many active ingredients found in vegetables and their roles in protecting different types of cancer.Vegetables with the Highest Anti-cancer Activity are garlic, cabbage, soy,
ginger, umbelliferous vegetables such as carrots, celery, cilantro, parsley and parsnip.Eating right, plus staying physically active and maintaining a health weight, can cut cancer risk by 30% to 40%.Keep healthy and cheers...

Hi roshand, We do learn something new everyday at mylot!
I didn't know that about Parsley! I had no idea that it
had so many good health benefits. That is something really
good to know! Now I will start using it more often. I don't
have a garden since I am an apartment dweller, although
I might be able to grow it in a little pot if you think
it would grow indoors. I'm not sure since we are heading
into the winter season and it is very cold in my apartment
and I am on the ground floor which makes it even colder.
I shall read up on it a bit. I also need to know if it is
safe to grow around cats since my boys seem to like to
check out the plants I have and I need to be most careful
about what I do grow. I don't think parsley is on the
"poison" list, but I would definitely have to check first.
Thanks for the info!

Yes we do yes dear parsley has lots of health benefits, unfortunately people view parsley as a garnish and leave it uneaten or often gets regarded as throw away garnish on plates.Big mistake..It fight against cancer, rich in antioxidant, good for your heart etc..It is a disese fighting herbal medicine, not in the poison list! You can pot it on,no need for a garden and you can keep the pot on your window sill to catch enough sunlight.Keep healthy and cheers..

Hi there roshand8
Yet more great advice from our friend roshand8 here in myLot . Now are we talking about curly leaf parsley or flat leaf? Parsley is also good for reducing the smell of garlic when eaten that is why we have green flecks in our shop bought garlic bread as it is parsley but I don't think they put enough on to reduce the slightest of smells. I don't put parsley on my homemade garlic bread because I can't smell it on myself the next day and my kids eat it too!!

oh thank you very much Humbug I think among its more than 30 varieties, the two most popular are flat-leaf parsley and curly-leaf parsley. Both are full of valuable nutrition.Generally, the flat version tends to have a more intense flavor than the curly-leaf variety, but you can pick the type that appeals to you the most.have fun and cheers..
