ABSOLUTELY! Without hesitation, it IS worth it to write for money.
If you're just starting out, however, writing for content banks can be VERY disappointing.
If time and the approval process are discouraging you, let me turn your attention to eHow. There is NO approval process. Articles are quick to write with their template. AND, you can start making money right away. You also retain the rights the articles you produce so you can use them to make more money elsewhere.
eHow has been the greatest source of online writing income for me so far. With the exception of clients (some who hired me because of my work on eHow), I have found no better way to make money. The articles for eHow make money even when you need time off, even when you're gone for a month. You spend 20 minutes on an article today and it will continue to generate revenue until you remove it from the site.
I love eHow so much, it is the subject of my blog. Please visit Broken Words for step by step instructions on joining eHow, getting started, increasing earnings, and everything else you want to know:

I have not written a single article for eHow this month, but the articles that already exist there have been making money and I am looking forward to a lucrative month, whether or not I contribute any writing.
Good luck!
