What is the Engish name of AVOCADO?

I don't know anybody that calls it by their proper name if that's what it is? Everybody calls it an avocado. Tom Selleck says that he has an avocado ranch where he grows, "avocados". When I go to the grocery store, it says avocado on the sign. When I look at the ingredients for guacamole, it says that it has avocado in it. Saying that it's not the english word is like asking, "what's the english word for crayon?" It's not english it's french. The actual english word is "wax coloring stick".

Wheww i really research with this, scientifice name of this is persea americana, it sometimes called avocado pear or alligator pear due to each shape and skin. Seems like im still in college doing research.happy myloting!
