I have a 9-month old daughter and she's been taking a few steps while holding on to something or being held with support.
I was just wondering, how old do other babies start walking?

thanks! I didn't know my diet could affect the physical development of my baby. How is that?

my daughter started walking around everything when she was young i want to say between 7-8 months because she was pulling up around six months, but she walked with out support a about 11 months old she was scared to let go but my son took forever i think he was like 14 months before he walked.
your daughter is doing good she'll be running around before you know it.good luck=)

My son started cruising- walking while holding on to something- around 10 months. But he didn't start walking unsupported until he was 13 months. I think about 1 year is the average.

The average is about 15 months of age for a baby to start walking but many walk sooner an equally many walk later. There is no real 'average' babies will walk when they're good and ready and when they walk is no indication of health or anything else related

I think this is why my I just have to wait. My daughter surprises me sometimes. Just when I think she's not ready for a milestone, she starts doing it. Thanks!

My son started pulling himself up on furniture at about 7-1/2 months. He started crusing along on the furniture shortly after that. He is now 10 months old and for the past week he has been standing up on his own, without furniture. He has been able to take one or two steps but then sits down or falls down. I can't wait until he can really do it on his own!

Your baby seems to have started young cause my son too started walking when he was 9 months old and people said that he was an early walker! I think by 11 months most of the kids start to walk. Wait and watch some more to come, you would have to remove everything from the ground level as they will pick up everything and put it in their mouth when they start to walk aroung the house. And you would have to be on your toes at times running after them, but believe me its fun to see children grow and progress.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to think about child-proofing our home then. Great reminder. :-)

My son was two weeks before his first birthday when he started walking independently. His actual "first step" was about a month prior to that. I had a niece that was walkign at 9 months but other than her most of the kids in my family started at about 11 months old.

My twins who are the eldest started walking about 10 months. My youngest started walking a 9 months. They like your daughter started off by pulling up on the furniture and walking along it. It did not take them long at all to start moving away and taking a few. Especially my youngest. She was in a hurring to get mobile as she really hated when her sisters would leave her and go to another part of the house to play. So she has be really motivated at doing things that the other two were not.
