ever wonder why they are still on the street. i mean everybody's got a cell phone right? contract or even prepaid right. even children as small as five years old carry around cell phones. so i guess the pay phone is all washed up so why are they still here? maybe 911 purposes do you know?

I live in Spain but cross over the border very frequently into Gibraltar.
My Spanish mobile should work in Gibraltar, but I can never get a signal. It's like entering a black hole.
If it weren't for payphones I would be stuck, not able to find members of my family as we always go off in different directions and are never where we should be when we said we were going to be there! lol.

Forgot to mention - I have two children, both over 5 and neither of them have a mobile phone.

Payphones are still around for those moments when you're in the middle of an emergency and you forgot to charge your cell lat night or you don't have any signal. The only problem with pay phones is that everyone has a debit card so no one ever has any change.
