Jimmy Page is a very good guitarist, but there are many things which differ from person to person.
Personally I like Joe Satriani more than Jimmy Page, and he is the best for me. But this is only my opinion. I am sure that others will post names of the best guitarists for themselves.

He's pretty good, but I don't think there is a single best guitarist, everyone is unique and there is no real way to compare. he is definitely up there, though.

or meit is, and always will be Ritchie Blackmore. The guy may have a massive ego, but has written some fantastic songs and, discovered or, helped some of the best singers in rock... David Coverdale and Ronnie James Dio. Ofcourse, any fans of Dio's would know that he had some success with his own band Elf, but Rainbow is what essentially got him noticed.

Jimmy Page is without a doubt a great guitarist but not the best alive. There are many great guitarist around like Joe Satriani, Slash, Carlos Santana, Kirk Hammet, and all guitarists(discovered or not). People are unique and styles vary. It's this thing that makes every guitarist great.

i think that jimmy page is a great guitarist but when it comes to talent i think that slash has page beat. his riffs with GNR and velvet revolver are amazing and jimmy had a way of being great but not over the top as i think slash is
