What happens when you make a speech for the 1st time in your life?

For my first time speeking publicly, my body and voice were vibrating with fear, my heart beats like its going to pop out of your chest, and my face may go bright red.
When the speech was over, I didn't even remember what I was talking about.
What happens to you when you speek publicly for the first time?

When the speech is in front of people that I already know it is not as bad but when it is in front of even a small group of people I do not know I get really anxious I start leaning on one leg, I start to get sweating palms, red, and just very nervous well at least that is how my first one went.
