Partition Magic springs to mind. This is very good software that enables you to change your hard disk partitions without affecting the data. If you only have one hard drive installed, your primary hard drive, then you cannot create partitions without firstly reformatting your hard disk. There is Disk Management under windows xp but again, you won't be able to change your primary partition on your hard disk. You will only be able to see the state of your hard drive in Disk Management. Definitely look up Partition Magic. Good luck, Andrew

When using Vista you can resize any partition, just like I described a few comments above. And as I said, it worked. So, no need to buy Partition Magic, unless you use XP. And if you use XP and format your primary partition to make it two partitions, why not use windows xp cd to make them, and give so much money for a program?

If you're using a window's platform, your safest bet is to use Partition Magic. You have to pay for it, but it's one of the more user friendly options to do it. If you don't want to pay anything, you can try using a linux distro called GParted. The later option is kinda technical and best not attempted if you're not sure what you're doing.

In winXP, the disk partition tool isn't flexible, so if you want to do a partition, you may have to delete the current partition. Only partition magic is the trick to create a partition from an existing one. But since your in vista and your job is done, good for you.
