How do you know if a lobster is already cooked?

My husband is allergic to crabs so we're limited to fish, mussels and shrimps. We always want to buy lobsters everytime we're at the supermarket for a change. The problem is we don't know how to cook it. One co-worker said it's already cooked once it changed its color. Can you please share your views?
