My son is 2 and he has a blanket and he has to have it to sleep with otherwise you can hang it up he wont go to bed or anything and there is times where he does pull it around the house and take it to places with him. I dont know what it is or why he does it but he does and he'll get out of it when hes ready.

My daughter is 5 and still sleeps with her blankies. She has 2 - one pink and one green. She doesn't need them all the time. She just uses them to cuddle when she first falls asleep. She actually pushes them away once she's fully off. I see nothing wrong with it. To tell you the truth, i still sort of have a security blanket. I love my blanket on my bed that has satin on it. When I go somewhere that I'm told to bring a blanket, I bring that one. But I can fall asleep with out it if I need to so I'm not totally dependable on it. It's just a preference to have it. Something comforting to sleep with.

My daughter is 5 and has a pink blanket that she was given as an infant. She always sleeps with it. She use to take it everywhere when she was real young but now she only sleeps with it. She calls it blankie and acts as if it is real. When she can't find it she says she has to find her because she will cry if she is lost. The blanket is really beginning to show all of the love my daughter has shown her. It is very worn out and has a few stains on it but it is still her security blanket.

My boys, now 13 and 9 never had a security issue. I always thought it was kind of cute for kids to have a favorite blankie.

I have a little boy almost five years old who likes stuffed animals and cars and the like. He does have a blanket that he likes to keep with him a lot of the time. I was folding it all the time and putting it back on my sofa but he just keeps taking it down for now and laying around with it.
I figure if that makes him happy then so be it. I guess that a lot of kids might do these things for security.
