What you tink that are the real motivations about this war?
For me, the russian wants to control the geographic point from where they are "filled" with some fossil energies.

In various forums I read, according to residents near the area of the first attacks, the Georgian army were the attackers to South Ossetia (not sure if correct spell). Many were happy to see the Russians entering the region. All you saw in US news were lots of deaths in Georgia and the Russians tanks entering the region. Giving the impression that Russia was the bad guy in this scene.
