Will Google's funding for Firefox end now that it's got its own browser?

What do you think? Will Google end its funding for Firefox (I believe it promised up to the end of a certain year) now that it has its own browser?
Personally I believe Chrome was made not so much as a replacement for the current established browsers, but more because it sets a new standard in terms of browser (and javascript engine) speed that other browsers have to play catch-up to. This makes many of Google's applications (like Gmail and Docs) run faster.
Thoughts?
