Hi, I am 13 weeks pregnant. I was over weight when I conceived. The pregnancy sites say that I should gain 15 lbs during my pregnancy, because I was over weight by like 20 lbs to begin with. I am depressed because I have already gained 8 lbs. Recently have been staying hungry. I eat before I go to bed, and sometimes wake up hungry. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to eat that is healthy and can hopefully make me feel full for a while? I know some people think well your pregnant it is ok to get big, but I am worried about losing the weight later.
Thanks For All Your Advice,
Amanda

Gainning weight when your pregnent i wouldnt really worry about it honestly....even though a site tells you to only gain so many lbs but when i got pregnant with my frist son i was only 135lbs and by the end of it i was like 190 after than the weight was pretty much the baby and then when i got pregnent the second time i was 145lbs and then by the end of it i was a lil over 200 so i gained a lot when i was pregnnet. Some females that get pregnent they end up with a lot of fuild and some dont for the most part it will probably be fuild or just a big baby. I wouldnt really be to worried about it.and after you have the baby best thing to do is move around a lot which you will or should but i would jsut walk alot to loose the weight. after i had my second son i was 180 now im down to 150. But some girls however can gain the weight and after the baby is born the weight jsut like diapears lol. So i wouldnt be so worried.

The biggest mistake I made in my two pregnancies was not excercising! It will help you with having more energy, and help you not to gain so much weight, (you might actually loose some which is okay if it's healthy) try this site www.babyfit.com it is great so far as eating healthy while pregnant.

ok what every you eat will effect the weight of your baby and you if you want to lose weight while you are pregant and still have the baby come out in good health, then you should do what I did when I was pregnant eat all health food like fruit when you are hungry and you can have as much as you want, eat salad you can have as munch of thea as you want. Don't eat any candy or any kind of sweets drink tea in place of juice or you can have water make sure there is no caffeine in the tea other wise the baby will be kicking you all day.Be sure to eat lot of vegetables and also do thing like stop eatting fried chicken and make baked chicken. doing all of these this will help you lose weight and the baby still be healthy.

Congrats on your pregnacy! Also Welcome to mylot!
You are problem depressed due to hormonal change and I promise there is more to come. But you should know that even though doctor's have a target weight or what they think is ideal, but its different for each woman.
You just need to concentrate on eating healthy meals. If you were eating 3 times a day, you can eat 6 small meals. You will be eating more often which will lessen you desire to eat. You will be eating something every couple of hours. Just make sure that its healthy.
For instance you can eat a small breakfast then a couple of hours later in between breakfast and lunch you can have some cucumbers, carrots or celery sticks. Then maybe a salad with meat for lunch. Between lunch and dinner you could have a snack bar or maybe some fruit and yogurt.
You can also do some light walking to make sure you are exercising.

Congratulations! Everyone gains differently during their pregnancies. During my first, I gained 10 pounds in 14 weeks, but then by the end (she was born at 37 weeks), the total gain was only 23 pounds. My sister gained at least 50 pounds with each of her pregnancies (no, she wasn't eating all junk food, it's just the way her body responds to pregnancy) and it came off after each one with normal eating and exercise. As for nice, filling snacks, I prefer the low fat popcorn. One of the mini bags only has 100 calories, and it will keep you full for a couple hours. I also think peppermints (like tic tacs, altoids, whichever brand you prefer) are good for killing cravings. Not much tastes good with peppermint, so it's worth a couple 2 calorie mints to stave off sugar cravings. Around here we had a prenatal jazzercise class that I took, and that helped keep the weight at bay, too. And make sure you're getting lots of water! In the end, what's most important now is to have a healthy pregnancy--you can always deal with the weight later! Best wishes to you!

Hi,Congrats on your pregnancy and make sure that you have plenty of fluids at this time.Fruits are also an additional.Dont starve your self just because you are overweight.Have foods at regular intervals so that it makes you full.Dont get tensed and don't be worried that you have put on weight.Once the baby comes out and once you start feeding your weight initially comes down.So be cool and do plenty of walking.Take Care.

Hi amanda! we are both pregnant so i understand what you are going through...lol anyways regarding your problem. You can stock fruits instead of chocolates or any unhealthy food that is bad for you and the baby. Fruits wont make you gain weight and it is nutritious. You can also eat a lot of vegetables and not so much with the meat. A right amount of meal everyday and a snack will be good enough to make you and the baby healthy. Dont forget to drink lots of water too. I have experience morning sickness and what i do is drink a lot of water after. I hope i was able to help you with your problem. Have a good day!

Hello and Congratulations. First of all DO NOT upset yourself with worry over your weight. Stressing yourself out will not help you or your little one. If you are hungry then please eat (if even only for your childs sake). Just try to make the healthy decisions when eating. I gained 27 pounds during my 2nd pregnancy and 17 of those were in the 1st trimester. I ate what I wanted when I wanted and when I didnt, I ate a piece of fruit or veggie, and made sure I had plenty of water. Try to carry around one of those mini coolers and fill it with healthy things you can enjoy. Over indulgence is okay from time to time just make sure it is not all of the time. Exercise is essential as well. As long as it doesnt get uncomforta8le, park further away from the store. walk to the mail8ox, just walk. Everything will 8e fine.

Arm exercises, and leg exercises work great. There are actually some exercising classes out there for pregnant women, and you might want to ask your doctor about it. In my family, women are tall and have some extra baggage before having children, but we do not gain that much weight when we get pregnant, then again, we do not carry children in our wombs for the full nine months, most of us have early pregnancies.

DO NOT try to lose weight while you are pregnant! Any good doctor will advise against it. Your baby will lose important nutrients that are needed for him/her to develop. Worry about your baby now and not the weight you may or may not have to take off later. That baby is precious and SO much more important than a few pounds.
You will want to take all of these things you are talking about to US to your physician. Call him and schedule an appt. just to talk. He's the expert. not us. And he's heard every question before. You are not unusual.

First off, I would like to congratulate you for the great blessing you just received. It's an exciting phase in a woman's life and you shouldn't stress too much over matters like your weight.
Like you, I was already overweight (obese even) when I got pregnant last year. When I found out about my pregnancy, I knew I had to change the way I eat. First out of my list are coffee, softdrinks, chocolates, or any food that's too fatty, sweet or salty. I began to drink more water and eat less rice. I also ate more fish and chicken and veered away from pork and beef.
This was hard, but I have one very good motivation, and that is the life that's growing inside me. And it worked. I even lost a few pounds on my first trimester. I only gained more than 5 pounds after my 6th month. My total weight gain is less than 15 pounds. And I gave birth to a 5-lb. baby girl.
You can do it. Just always think of it as something that you'd have to do/sacrifice for your baby. Motherhood starts when life begins inside your womb.
