UK tv overseas

I am living in Thailand, but I do miss the good quality of British telly - especially the BBC. BBC's i player is not available to me here, I have tried proxies but really have not had a ny luck with them. Many popular programmes are available to download as torrents but sometimes I would just like to watch normal ordinary live tv, all the normal everyday stuff. Anyone know of a way to do this? I have heard about a joint subscription service being in the pipeline for next year but nothing firm.
