Is life really unfair?

I'm sure we all at some point and uttered those three words "Life's not fair". Tonight, as I sat outside thinking (something that tends to get me in trouble :P) about how I wish my life was different, that rather uber familier phrase popped into my head. As soon as it did, I felt stupid for thinking it. I begin to realize anytime I've thought or said "life's not fair" is because something didn't go the want I wanted it to. Which brought about the question- "is life really unfair"?
In my opinion - I don't think it is. You make choices and then actions that fit that choice will follow. Let's say I decided to put my full focus on losing weight. In the beginning, I'll in control, nothings breaking my stride. But, after awhile, I stop exercising. So, the weight quits coming off. Then, I hear about a friend who lost 20lbs and I get jealous - the first thought to pop in my head? "Life's not fair." Only, that's not right, now is it? I choose to stop exercising, therefore I stopped losing weight. It has nothing to do with being fair or unfair. Hopefully that example is understandable. The whole point is - what happens to us in our lifes is based on what choices we make. True, they will not always happen the way you want, but, I look at it like this - there's a reason it didn't.
What's your opinion? Do you think life is unfair?

So, life is not fair

I'm sorry to hear that. Who is to say we've always made the right choices, though? You do the best you can and just keep going. Life isn't easy, but, I have to disagree with you - it isn't about being fair/unfair, it's just life. Everyone's takes a different path. Yours has been troubled, but, I'm sure good things will come sooner or later.

Thanks for replying (:
I agree. I think we just tend to use that phrase when we get jealous, you know?

I am sure life is unfair. But I also know life is fair if you follow the three R's: respect for yourself, respect for others, responsibility for all your actions.
Everything happens for a reason, even the unfair things. Shift the way we see the world, because having a different outlook could take away the pain and change the course of our own life. Life is a gift, just treeat it as a gift, you will see a brand new world.

I agree with you that life is not unfair because it all goes down to how we appraoch and solve the prblem also on how we carry out the decisions that we make, for example if we jealous of someone because he or she have more material things then why not ask yourself the question why do he have all of that maybe becaause he has a job and you dont or he has a business to manage and you dont,so you need to take approproate action and do the same thing as he is doing to achieve what he is getting right?Hope you like my response, have a nice day.
