Hi everyone,
I have been posting on here for about three days now and I have noticed that there isnt alot of comedy. People take this place way too seriously and really dont like to have a laugh.
Why do you think this is? Do you think if they give a serious answer they will get paid more?
But the thing is, you cant seriously think that mylot monitors every single comment you make to make a judgement on how much you will get paid do you?
Lets have a mass debate.

you are right whitby. most people here answer seriously like me but only most of the time and depends on the discussion,. but there are topics that pop out that you could mess around, haha. check out some of lordarwizard's(?) post and there's this other guy with gross posts like being a cannibal and counting the calories of each human body part he could imagine eating. yeah..check them out.
i also don't think that if you give a more serious answer you get a higher pay. i think the pay is also based on the length of your posts?? hmm..but i think not really..i think a discussion and comment has each different criteria for payment rates.

Haha, I doubt so that they are thinking that way! And besides that, whether a response is serious or with humour does not affect your earnings in anyway. It all depends on whether or not a response to the discussion is of quality to determine how much your earnings are for the day.
There are many sorts of people on Mylot - the serious responders and the witty ones. I have a few witty ones on my friend list and I enjoy your posts and discussions tremondously. However on the hand, I also do enjoy the serious postings. It all depends on what topic is being discussed at the moment.
For me, if you can classify me, I belong to the category of the serious respondents. That is just me. However, if I am comfortable with the person long enough (as with the case of some of Mylot friends), I would inject in jokes and scarsm as I know that they would not be offended by that sort of posts!
You might just be surprised at how many people get offended with the slightest joke. So as to speak, we don't want to get on the wrong side of the people and risk getting into an arguement on Mylot way before we get to know them, and how well they can take jokes, right?
How about you? Lol, your discussion seems serious enough! hEHE, anyway, take care and Happy Mylotting!

I don't see myLot as serious as you see it. There are a lot of people here who just want to have fun. You will get to know their real colors in time.
I don't think we get paid more for being serious. We get paid here to start discussions and respond to discussion. MyLot don't care if we are smiling or not.
Have a nice day!

I think that most people just answer the discussions as best as possible to ensure they get the most credit. I have also noticed that alot of posts tend to agree with each other. also I think that every post is monitored because your posts judge how much you earn. Im not sure if thats the case but it seems like they keep pretty good tabs on all of them. I have only been here a short time and I have noticed that some peoples posts are hard to read. some posts use wierd shorthand that takes me a few seconds to figure out. I always try to make my posts make sense and as legible as possible. I also think that it depends on the interest the discussion is in when seriousness is taken into account.

Some people count this as part of their monthly income, so maybe that's why they take it serious. Other treat the site like a social meeting place and they are more laid back. Some discussion just merit a serious response.
All in all, I think it just depends on the poster and the responder.

welcome to mylot... friend :)
What you actually mean by taking things serious here , like some people posts controversial posts and fight starts here because of that or the discussions made here are believed to be true and answered seriously??? which one do you mean in both cases i will like to ask so what? its upto an individual on how they take this community as , for me i just like to analyze things and i answer genuinely whether it is true or not.. i just dont care i do my part well friend

Its like someone posts a silly question, then people answer it in a serious manner. Surely the whole point of starting a silly conversation is to have a laugh.
I agree that there are questions that should be taken seriously but it just anoys me when people are so serious to the point you think oh my god this person would be so depressing to spend time with.
Anyways lets cheer this whole topic up abit because this discussion has turned very serious. What is everyone up to this week?

I dun really think so.. At least i'm not taking it too seriously, as most of my posts and responses, are usually light hearted and fun ^_^ Unless it's a serious dicussion, only then i will respond to it in a serious manner too ^_^ haha
If not, mylot is gonna be very boring with nothing fun and mot much ple will wanna hang around in mylot.. BUt as far as i see, there are many new members joining mylot everyday, and there are still many interesting discussions around, thus mylot is not that serious after all ^_^ lol

If you don't take it seriously you might have an accident and tread on some poo.
Have you not come across the poo discussions yet?
No obviously not or you would not be asking such a question.
Though I suppose poo is a very serious topic to some - well we all poo at some point don't we?
Oh and the gas mask (slightly related that's why it came to mind).
No I think you have a lot of exploring to get through yet before you get to it.

not sure some people just have tunnel vision they dont even care about whats being said all they want is that little check ... personally i think this is a really neat way to make a little extra but its not worth trying to do 24/7

Hello,
One of the main reason for me not to create post with comedy is mainly due to the rules and regulations here. If I didn't remember wrongly, one rules state that we cannot post any games or short comments, such as ha-ha, so there isn't really much room for comedy discussion except for serious stuff.

I make money at work but I dont take it serious in the slightest. Money making can be fun.
So I take it no one wants the 'Best Response Award'.....come on people, make me laugh so people in my office can look at me funny and wonder what I am laughing at.

Yes, I also find sometimes that some of the members write very seriously and they start very serious discussions. There are few who start hilarious discussions and go for some witty answers (may be if they go for lighter or comic answers, they are not sure, how it will be taken by the others). If possible, I try to post some witty answers to make others laugh.

Some maybe, but for some, this is also a place to learn something new, get to know more people from across the globe, and some can get to say something that they wanted to say, share their daily lives. And thats definitely what im doing.

I do not think mylot has a problem with comedy but if the discussions that people post are serious they might not appreciate a joke in response. Or they might if it is tasteful. I don't know.
I tend to post serious responses but I have never been able to tell a joke in my life and I am not sure I will be any better doing it here. With my past experience it is more likely that anything I wrote intending to be amusing would be taken the wrong way and upset someone.
I doubt it has anything to do with how much they pay you. I have seen some responses here that were fun and not serious.
