To me it only conjures up images of the slave days, I only speak for myself Gabbana and not about Singapore I just do not know enough about the country to make that assessment, it comes off harsh to me but its not like I see this happening, so maybe thats why I feel that way. My concern is that this power would be abused and I think our prison system is much more complicated than just people needing a good ---whipping.

I don't agree with killing people. Even if they have killed. However any control of a person must come from within. They must do the controlling. We can only give them something to reflect back on that may stop them from doing something. My mom was a prow at giving us kids something to reflect back on if we started to do something that wasn't right. Many a time I have started to do something and it would go through my mind if I did it mom would whip me. This kept me from doing many things that I shouldn't have done.
If a person steps into a store and starts to rob it if he has had a taste of the whip in some prison the odd of those whippings going through his mind are real good. It just might cause him to reconsider and maybe leave the store without robbing it. It would keep me from doing most things that would send me to prison where there was no doubt I would have a whip laid across my back.
When I look back now I thank my Mom for every whipping she ever gave. There is no doubt in my mind it made a better person out of me. I didn't do things in school that would get me in trouble because I knew when I got home I would be in real trouble. You don't need to really hurt a child to give them something they can reflect back on. I was more than willing to give my girl a few whacks on the bottom with the fly swat because I knew it would help her to avoid serious trouble later. Ask your child when they were grounded the last time of not allowed to watch TV or something like that. They probably won't even be able to tell you. We must give our kids a good reason to control themselves. The very same applies to the adults.

That whip is probably saving them money and maybe even some lives. We need to put the bull whip back in our own prisons like it used to be. There wouldn't be so many so eager to go to prison. People just might start to control themselves where they wouldn't go to prison. Our prisons are nothing to fear any more.
