Do people actually listen and think?

Being Canadian,we have our own problems with polititions honesty as do basically every country,(at least so called democratic countries).
But I have been watching the American runaround for a while now,and I just can't understand how the people think.
I am not against Obama being African American, but when a person running for the top job to look after one country(the United States) and tells the people that he is going to spend a big bunch of thier tax money to help Africa, when the U.S. is in such deep dept,I know I sure would find someone else to vote for fast.
I was also under the impression that you had to be born in the U.S. before you could even think of running for president?
maybe I am wrong, but as I see so many behind Obama,I have to wonder on thier reason.
Any comments?

Robert Ruben (sec. of Treasury under Clinton) balanced the budget and now we are trillions in debt. Mostly due to a war over "weapons of mass destruction" that the UN told us never existed in the first place and which, in fact, did not exist. If we can stop making dumb moves like that and extricate our country from this endless war that most of us don't want, we can probably give some aid to Africa without breaking the bank. In fact, we have been very ungenerous in recent times. America actually gave less aid to sunami victims that many European countries.
Our money problems are not caused by giving aid or by domestic poverty programs, they are caused by a mismanaged war and they are being added to by enormous buyouts to aid financially irresponsible institutions such as Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. If we can once again get a brilliant administrator like Clinton in the presidency, we can probably start to get out of the mess we are in and we might even wind up with a balanced budget again some day.
What really gets me is when people hop all over Obama because he talks about raising taxes. Taxes have to get raised somewhere. There is a deficit in the trillions that has to be brought down. I actually read on a conservative web site that Clinton didn't really balance the budget because he increased taxes to do it. Taxes are the most legitimate of balancing a budget!

I agree with you tsker, and one other point for you Irisheyes, taxation is actually illegal in both Canada and the United States,it has never been voted in as a law.
they just have very long arms and are able to get away with blackmail to make you pay it.
Now don't get me wrong,I do know the governments have to find some way of running a country and taxation is an honest way,But only if they do so honestly and use it for the running of the country only.
Thank you for your comments.

Well that's your opinion. Many people think the best way to balance the budget is actually to reduce spending. This government is throwing money away. Raising taxes is like saying the way to fix your credit card debt is by raising the limit on your credit cards.

Obama was born in the U.s. there were rumors he was born in kenya but was rushed to hawaii but those are just that, rumors and fact skewing.
BUT, what isn't rumor is how much money he plans on spending here and abroad. I don't care about his race, gender, or anything trivial like that. what I do care about is his ideology. the ideology that the answer to every problem is more government programs, more government regulations, more government interference, more government spending, more government revenue collection, government government government....ACK .
And yes, things are getting out of hand. People are nit picking on both sides. People are also taking little snipets of information and creating the rest of a story from their bias, take an incomplete story or a few lines in a news paper, without checking the rest and then, wether or not there IS even a rest of the story, running with it and pointing to it going "see?! see?!" again, on BOTH sides. It's nausiating and it's driving me even further to a candidate like Chuck Baldwin.

Thank you,I think, when I first started reading,I was sure you were a Obama supported all the way,but as you continued with his taxation thinking,I knew you could not be,and at the end,I know you are just unsure.
As you say, what we know of obama is what we have learned from the news and rumours, and basically, that is all you every get with anyone in his position.
personaly,I never really beleive what is printed or written about polititions,I have yet to meet an honest one, every one of them will tell you what you want to hear, and as soon as they get in,there first answer,is what did you want, sorry not on the agenda.
all polititions are bad,we just have to try to pick the best of the worste and hope.
thank you for you comment.

I didn't know he wanted to spend our tax money to help Africa. We need the money here to help our poor and homeless people, and people who don't have health insurance. That is where the money is needed. I will have to re-think this whole thing. Personally I really liked Clinton.

Thank you Irish, someone that thinks as I do,sorry sanjitt,no money should ever be sent out of country till all the ills of our own are looked after first, and believe me,there are far more here needing this help.
And I know I will loose points here, but I can tell you where to stuff the immigration system as well.and believe me,the sun don't shine there.
Thank you both for you comments.

Don't take this as an insult, but you really need to read up on what our country spends our money on. We give away billions of dollars every year in aid to foreign countries. The U.S. Census website has some information on this if you want to look more into it. I agree with you completely that we should use some of that money to help our own citizens.

Sorry I don't usually respond to discussions about Politics, and I may not be well versed in them, as I don't really have a lot of time to really pay close attention to them, and it does not matter anyway, once whoever is elected will do whatever they want, and we will not have any say over it. Once they are elected it is all over with, as they will do whatever they want anyway. They are all full of promises, but once they take office it all changes.

Hi Mac
The same thought ran through my mind too. Gee after all, it is the American citizens/tax payers that is voting for him. It is the tax payers money he is going to take to another country right? Like a betrayal of trust and really discourages me to even want to vote for either one. They both dissapoint me deeply.

I thought Obama was born in Hawaii and last time I checked, that's still in the U.S. Also, the U.S. has always provided humanitarian aid to other countries regardless of our own debt. We are probably the most generous nation in the world.

Thank you for the information,I had been told he was born in Africa and was brought to the Staes early in his life, this from the news we get here.
As for always sending money as aid,Canada is just as stupid.
We,both U.S and Can. always have a vast amount of extra food products and clothing,so send this,as well as teachers to teach these countries to fend for themselves,we have many very low income and disabled people of our own that should be looked after first, charity begins at home.
I wish to explain to you all,I am old fashioned,I will not change just because "sociaty"tells me to,I do not like the invasion that has taken place in my country,I do not speak for the Americans,But I will bet, there are many like myself there as well.
After we finally got rid of our traitorous prime minister troduoe,we now have a 1/2 decent one.but now he is having us have another election,oh well.
Sorry for the book.
thank you for your responce.
