How much spaghetti?

I love spaghetti but every time I cook it, I cook way too much. I have a hard time cooking just enough for two people. Does anyone have a good way to measure how much spaghetti I need to cook for 2 people? Is there any kind of gadget that does that? I've seen a microwave cooker that is used for pasta and has two round things on the cover to measure spaghetti. Anyone seen that or use it? Thanks

Being married to an italain, i can tell you pasta is a big staple in our diet. One of the things i have learned about making too much pasta is the art of leftovers. There is a little dish that we call pasta pizza. Its very simple to make and actually requiers leftover pasta. you just put leftover pasta in a frying pan with a little oil and wait until it gets crispy then flip it. It is a nice little dish and has also become a favorite in my house hold. I only mention it because after figuring it out, i tend to make more pasta than needed in anticipation for the pasta pizza leftovers.lol

That sounds like something my son would love. I am going to have to try making it when we have leftover spaghetti next time. I think for him I would sprinkle a little cheese on top after I flip it too. Thanks for posting that idea.

I am always making too much pasta. Some days my kids will eat a lot of it and other days they barely eat any. I make too much just in case it is a lot of pasta day for them. I love to reheat leftover pasta and eat it for lunch the next day anyway.

Half kilo of pasta (uncooked) is good for 4 to6 persons, so fourth of a kilo will do for both of you.

My husband is very good cook, coz he had a course in catering before. Everytime he cook spaghetti it's just right for me and him. Nothings left, coz he is a big eater.Sometimes he eat what left on my plate. He just estimated it. He never use any measuring tools, just estimated it. Try to estimate it.Not much not less.

Hi lilcee. My husband also cooks too much spaghetti whenever he cooks just for me and himself. We love spaghetti too. I kept on telling him, "one fist." But when i cook, it is "two fists" since i have small hands.

Use 1/3 of the box. That's what I do for me and my husband. He always eats more than I do- and loves seconds, but he's getting a Buddah belly, so now I only make enough for us each to have one serving. If there are no leftovers, he can't eait them!
