A controversial subject - always likely to get comments???!!!
Surely it depends - just being a male or female does not mean you are a good or bad manager. There is nothing in the gender stereotypes to suggest one way or the other.
Men in general however are more logical rational and consistent and prefer concentrating on a single task, women in general are more irrational illogical and emotional and are better at multi-tasking and find it harder to concentrate on a single task. Hence that is why 99.9% of the inventions in history are by men - as they are able to focus and concentrate to the exclusion of distrations, which is needed for breakthroughs. It is also why men are better drivers as women get more distracted and hence are more likely to have accidents - on average women have 12% more accidents per km than men.
However, depending on the job, would depend on which skills are more useful.
My experience of managers is extremely poor - I have had mainly male managers and they have all been awful. The only woman manager I have had was absolutely brilliant!
Since so few managers are actually trained or have qualifications it is not surprising that they are so poor at the job.
