I think Russell Brand was GENIUS. Yes, at times I thought his comments were testing my comfort levels, but overall his performance was flawless. He was less of a host and more of an entertainer. He really gave MTV a run for their money and a kick in the butt. Do I think he should have made those comments about the Jonas brothers' promise rings? No. Did he handle the cover-up well? Yes.
Maybe my opinion is biased by the fact that I'm in love with him.

I think that when it comes to comedians you cant take what they say to seriously i seen a news show today about the comment he made about the jonas brothers and they had been asked how they felt and they didn't seem to offended about what russell said i think that if the jonas brothers are comfortable with there choice who cares what other people say besides a lot of what russel said was only ment for laughs im sure i think people need to lighten up a little, lol.

Hello apples!
I did watch the show; you know, I thought it was okay, but at the same times I've learned not to expect too much from the VMA's anymore; even the MTV Movie Awards aren't as good as they were in the mid to late 90's, when it was entertaining, funny, and full of stars. I think MTV is trying too hard sometimes to make us laugh or be funny. The old shows were just funny without trying nearly as hard as they do now.
Russell Brand as rthe host was trashed by many, but I thought he did an okay job. I think that it's a matter of the content on the show now that brings the rest of it down.

Yea the vma were a lot better back then, and i thought that Russell brand guy did ok, but there was a few iffy moments in the show where i was like omg i cant believe he said that lol but i still think he did an ok job hosting, but yea the vma's are definitely lacking entertainment whys compared to the shows of the past.

Hello apples99
I didn't see it but I heard a bit about it. Didn't the British comedian Russell Brand present the show? I believe that Britney didn't perform this year because she made such a bad job of miming last year! Well that's what they told us here in jolly old Britain!!
