reacting and responding

in everyday life, we tend to react to new and situation, however few people bother to respond to it. in ur view, what is the difference between reacting and responding?

Reacting is just instinct, no thinking done. it usually gets people into trouble too.. Responding means quick thinking.People just don't act on impulse. There is a systematic way of responding unlike reacting. Sometime when people react, they lose the essence of what they are reacting to.
