I live in a third world country where poverty seems to be part of life. We are a small country with a very large population. And i noticed, why do people living in shanty or ghettos (or those in the hand to mouth existence situation) seemed to have more children than an average income family.
I have a stable job, although it is still hard to make both ends meet, I have a son, three years old, I have a spouse, also with a stable job. But still, it seemed hard for us to provide all the stuffs we want in life, not necessarily need. The thought of having another baby in the house just seemed like not appropriate at this time.
I was just wondering, why do people living in the shanties or ghettos seemed to have more children than those in the middle income or higher income families. Is education part of it?

Well i guess having educated is a part of it,Knowing how to plan a family and plan for the future is a great tool as well as knowing their own financial limitations so that they can get out of the ghetto and improve their way of living.Another thing is that maybe they have nothing to do or entertain their selves so they turn to other options as a form of amusement.Hope you liked my response, have a nice day.

I think education is part of it. Most of the lower class citizens are not properly educated on birth control and family planning. They have a certain mentality that the more children they have, the higher the income when they grow up and start working.

I think that in the rich and developed countries people have good education and the average might be 2 children per family. The upper and middle classes would probably have around that number of children. Some of the working class people tend to have more children, 4 or 5 in some cases.
I imagine that in poor and developing countries the elite class have education and tend to have 2 or 3 children. The very poor people in these countries tend to have more children. They may have had less education and less plans in life. They might not have much to look forward to if they live on the edge of Rio in a shanty town. They might not have much protection and therefore the ladies might have many pregnancies.
Population is high in my home country but the standard of living is quite high. Countries like Norway and Finland have low populations and the standard of living in those countries is very high. Education in European Countries is generally very good. In China they have a huge population and in India they have a large population. Some people are very poor and others are very rich in Brazil. There is a rich poor divide. The educated people have two children whilst in the poor neighborhoods the population grows considerably.
