About 10,000 different scientists have gathered in CERN to perform what is being dubbed as the largest civilian experiment on earth. According to reports this experiment is costing more than 5 billion pounds... Don't you think that this much amount of money should have gone to some where else, for instance, the money should've been used in funding those science projects which may be are opf a little more use to humanity collectively, or it could have been used to remove the sufferings of the people of the world who are forced to live in inhuman conditions..... What do you people think about this ????

Although I am academically very very excited, intrigued and curious to find out the results of the experiment, you make a very valid point. 5 billion pounds is a very huge sum of money, and shouldn't that large a sum of money be used to feed the poor and suffering? But the scientific people would argue that we would be still in the stone age if it wasn't for the scientific experiments that advanced our race. But we can still argue that the poor and suffering in the third world countries are still stuck in the stone ages, so where is the progress? How can progress be justified if it can only benefit a fraction of the human population?! So you rightly say that such a large sum must be used for something which should alleviate the suffering of the third world countries!
