How much often do you clean your tank? Do you do a partial change of a full change?

It kind of depends on your filtration means as to how often it is required to do partial water changes and how they are working with your specific fish and tank. The whole point is to allow your saltwater tank to become as close to a natural environment as possible and the bacterias within the tank assist greatly with this.I would never reccommend a full change unless your water has become contaminated by something such as cleaning products. Once a month you could do a 20- 30% water change and maintain a healthy environment. Water adds throughout the week is important to even out solidity and loss due to evaporation. I have a frind that has established their tank in a manner that requires no water change and looks great.

The proper rule of thumb for a clean tank that has the right filtration system and is not experiencing any troubles i.e. high nitrates or ammonia, is a ten percent water change every month and a complete break down should be completed once a year. Top off your water level each week as needed. Do not use hot water to clean your gravel or filter system as this tends to kill the helpful bacteria and will lead to your tank "cycling" where it will become cloudy and the tank chemistry to be off, which could kill your fish. Hope this helps.

50% water change for every week. If the temperature is hot, 3 times a week and 50 percent water change.
