Yes, I have to eat more Bananas, they are good for you and my doctor said I should eat more Bananas, for my potasium. I noticed my body was cramping up everywhere. Does this happen to you? When you take the Lasix or water pills that take some of your potasium away. So that is why I eat Bananas.

If I was told I had to eat more bananas then I would be in trouble. I love bananas but they do not love me, I can perhaps eat them for a couple of days before I start getting bunged up and get belly ache!

I eat lots of bananas, usually one a day. I do get shin splits, and do not know if the bananas do any good. Anyway they are cheap and that is why we eat them a lot. Only the trouble is that we love them so much they do not last the week. I do not have to take water pills but I am getting up there so I guess I do need more potassium and those multivitamin pills do not do much good. So how many do you eat a day?

I hope you may find the following of use:
Most vegetable will provide some potassium, especially green leafy vegetables and beans. Potatoes have a particularly high potassium content, but boiling them in water can reduce the amount of potassium by fifty percent, so they are better steamed, microwaved, fried, made into soups, cooked in stews and casseroles. The same applies for cooking all vegetables.
Fruits which are high in potassium include figs, apricots, bananas, oranges and pineapples. Bananas provide a significant amount of potassium to the body.
Whole grains, nuts, tofu, milk and lean meat are also excellent sources of potassium

Most fruits contain significant amounts of potassium. Recommended fruits for adding potassium to the diet are figs, apricots, bananas, oranges and pineapples. A few pieces of fruit should be eaten every day.
Many vegetables are excellent sources of potassium. The best ones are green leafy vegetables and beans. A good potassium rich diet should include several portions of vegetables each day.
The recommended daily intake for potassium is 2,000 to 3,500 mg a day. One medium banana provides 450 mg, and a medium baked potato, or twenty French fries, provide 750 mg.

When I got sick a few years ago (extreme acid reflux), a nutritionist put me on a banana diet for a few weeks. And now bananas are a part of my diet. Some days I'll eat as many as 20. And no I am not a monkey. LOL I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, in fact that's what I eat most of the time, and my health keeps getting better and better. In fact I'm even thinking of one day moving to a banana republic and have my own banana tree. LOL

I think it's better to get the minor elements from natural foods. Banana is a very healthy fruit and you can recover your energy in a short time after eating it. If you notice it, you will find tennis players tend to eat bananas when they have a break. Besides, I have heard that eating banana will give you a good mood.
I love China

PS : Will not the regular intake of Lasix affect our kidneys? Because i have heard people( my friends) saying like this? What did your Doc's say in this regard ?

I also used to get major cramps in my legs anytime i hopped in a lake or pool to go for a swim, and was told banana's will help fix that. I started to eat bananas a few times a week and it hasn't happened nearly as much, but in order to fix the rest of the cramps stretch a few times a week especially the target area in my case my calves.
Good Luck
