According to television commercials, the scary or worst thing about bad breath is "not knowing you have it." Bad breath is also known as halitosis. In many cases, people remain oblivious to their offensive breath. HOW DO YOU TELL someone close to you that they have bad breath or halitosis? WHAT ADVICE can you give them?

Hmmm... I really don't know if there is a "good" way of telling someone that he/she has halitosis. If it were someone close to me, I'd have a talk with that person privately and tell them that there's something wrong with his/her breath. Plus I can always help that person see a doctor. If I were a real friend, that would be the best thing you can do for someone else.

Hi rosedust! Yes, that's the right thing to do. Talk to the person privately. This just shows that we are concern to our friend.

its better when you tell them point blank, but also you do not put in a rude way or using harsh words, you just start a topic that is relative to that, like you could talk about chewing gums, offer it to the person and then point out that sometimes there breath does not smell so good, and anyway there is no way of going around it, the person will still know if you have all the intentions of telling them

Hi lemayan! It's hard to tell a friend that his breath is bad, however, if we are concern to him we really have to tell the problem. I agree with you, you can tell him that, but of course, we should also be careful of our choice of words. We can be frank, but gentle in telling him what's the problem.

Hi Hatley! That is so straight-forward. But I don't see anything wrong saying it directly to the person. But of course, that person should be a close friend. A different approach is applicable to a person who is not that close to you.
