im currently in a relationship. sending a text message does not always get the full mesage across, especially if one needs to say it with a certain tone or with some degree of feeling attached to it. for example saying that you love someone...is it the same over a text message or not? can you say exactly what you want and how you want to? will the receiver interperet your message as youd like them to? *

This is one of the reasons why I don't like text messaging & emails... It's so impersonal & sometimes feelings get lost some where in between computers & cell. phones... I always try to tell my daughter to go out & play with her friends instead of sitting in front of a t.v. watching or playing video games... It teaches her human interactions... Now that I'm grown, if I can't talk to someone face to face, at least I'd like to "talk" to the person, not read what they said... Emails & short messages are good for business & getting some simple thoughts across but if you wanna get your feelings or important thought or point across, at least talk to them, if face to face is not possible, at least by the phone...

if you're planning on telling someone you love them for the first time i would hope that you would do it in person but by the off chance you can only do it through the phone you should call. if you're talking about the normal i love you's then i don't see a problem with texting. i love to text. i'd rather text than talk on the phone. however if it's something of significant important i will call and speak to them. a lot of arguments stem from written responses because you can't tell the tone that the person is using. when people read to themselves we tend to put our tone in and thats where problems start.

I love texting, but I agree. It's hard to say EXACTly what you want especially if ur in a hurry. A few times the message I received from my son was unclear and I interpreted it wrong. STill I love to text, it's too convenient to quit.
