I tend to visit mediums who have either been referred to me or I have seen working before, ( i go to a spiritualist church and you get to meet different mediums who all have different ways of working). You find those who charge ridiculous amounts for their 'gift' probably aren't that good!!! I have a cousin who is just developing spiritually, she does readings and when people ask her how much she charges she tells them let me do your reading, if you understand what im saying and can take the messages i give you then pay but if you dont then i wont take a penny, i think she is fantastic but i am biased!!!!!!! hugs Jessica

well if i had gotten good enough to where i could do readings for people and did one after another after another all day long i would want some pay because its so emotionally and spiritually draining that it can bed rid you if you dont monitor yourself and with that you couldnt work too.. but if i just did it every now and then i wouldnt charge.. i guess you could see it as any other talent.. they may not have other things they are good at or love and want to dedicate themselves to to where it becomes their life and should get some compensation.. but i think it should be more of a donation.. the prices people charge are insane and especially since most of them are fraud.. of course im basing my opinion as if they are all legit.. too bad they all arent and know it

im a psychic and I do get paid for my work. However doctors have a gift and you pay for their service as well. Eveyrone has a gift. I do free readings as well sometimes as I know its good karma, but psychics have to live and eat too.

yeah i dont have any prob with legit people charging and as long as they dont go crazy with it.. especially since the legit ones really have to learn how to use their talents and have their mind and body energy up for them etc.. but its the annoying fake people in my town charging 200 bucks for a tarot card reading that irk me..

I agree with this reply. I used to do psychic readings for people and I did charge, because when you do them for free people bug you to no end wanting to know this or that or the next thing, at times on a daily basis. Or they don't take you seriously at all. Doing a reading can really drain you, although it sounds like you already undersand this. I had a lot of regular customers but I wouldn't do weekly or monthly readings for them because they were just wasting their money then. Once you have picked up and connected with the energy field of another, which is actually very hard work, I've found it doesn't change that much over time so I would only do a reading for the same client every six months or so. But I did charge, because people respect that more. I did do some free readings when people needed help and just couldn't afford to pay and I thought it would help them, but for other people, who could afford to pay, when I did free readings for them they didn't take the advice seriously and didn't take me seriously at all. Now I don't do those readings anymore because last year I was very sick with several things going on and when you have to use the energy to get well (it takes a long time to get well and energy back even after one surgery and I had a couple last year) then you don't really have it to spare for psychic stuff. And you have to be really careful with that. If you're not doing it through God and with high spiritual protection, you can let a lot of negative and bad stuff "through the doors." So I don't do the readings any more at this time, just because of that. Interesting discussion here, though.

I would imagine that the reason people have to pay for psychic readings is because they're not real. I'd guess that the vast majority of people purporting to be psychics are just shysters, and are doing it to make a quick buck. Cold-reading is very easy to do, as is hot-reading when you've done it a few times.

Well, even water and air and the land are free. but we pay for them. i think we are really into the whole economic productivity-focused era where our worth is being gauged by how much we earn. also, law of supply and demand will dictate that since there are few people who can give the service (gifted) compared to the people who are willing to avail of the service, it has worth and it has value and it becomes a commodity. this is really unfortunate come to think of it. but it took the course of men. we dictated the movement. Great discussion point. Good day!

I think when they ask a payment for their services they are scam. Especially when they ask for more money for additional services.
