Really getting to me....

Well as someone who is unemployed because I am ill I object to the assumption that people who do not have jobs are just lazy. Yes there are some people in this world who are lazy but it is more likely that they are just not able to cope with the world of employment or do not have the skills an employer wants. I am actually ill because the stress I suffered in my last job made me ill. I could possibly work if there was a job that was no more than 2 half days a week, had no stress, was sedentary, only single tasked and could be done by someone who is forgetful, currently very slow at thinking and paid more than the cost of going to work. Hmmm big problem. I do not think there are any jobs like that. Everyone wants everything fast now. I have a friend who is unemployable but he has brain damage. He is reasonably intelligent but also a slow thinker. He is classified as disabled, I am currently in the rehab system but they do not have much hope. I have a university degree, used to hold down a senior administrators job which required high intelligence, huge amounts of multi-tasking, high level of analysis and the ability to solve problems on the spot. The only trouble was that I did not realise it was making me ill until it was too late and now I have had chronic fatigue syndrome for 2 years. I can no longer sleep properly, my brain is so bad there are times I feel like I have Alzheimer disease and I suffer from chronic pain. I vaguely remember what it was like to be healthy. People just looking at me might see that I look tired and old but they probably would not realise that I am ill. What does ill look like? I did not realise that long term stress could cause so much damage, but I would never judge someone as lazy just because they are not working or use food stamps. I try to avoid junk food most of the time because I cannot afford it but it is a nice treat to eat out occasionally and we cannot afford restaurants. Being on mylot actually helps me to think but it can take me all day just to do 10 to 20 posts. I am very slow these days.
