WOW!! This would be so cool to have happen. I wish my Tinker could have come back like this little one did. But, where in the world was she? As thin as she turned out to be, I can only imagine that someone took her far away and she decided to return to her owners. The fact that she remembered them after all that time is a testament to the love she had for them!!

So - have you had an animal or known of an animal who was lost and returned on their own? Isn't this a great story???
(Although I'm still wondering how they can call her a "ginger" when she's more of a "tortoiseshell".)

I can see a story such as this one would make it to the headlines because I have a cousin that had the same thing happen to her except her cat was gone for 18 years. Her cat was spotted by herself 18 years after she went missing. Suddenly she was all over the papers and Jay Leno even called her. He talked a lot about my cousin. It was quite fastinating.
Have a good day

I had a cat when I was younger named Blondie. When we were away on vacation, the girl watching the house for us let all the cats outside and mine couldn't be found. I was 7. When I was 16, one of our neighbors lost her cat so she had a trap set out in front of her house; that was the only way she could get her cat to come home. Anyway, Blondie just happened to wander into the trap.

Wow! And here I thought only dogs could do that! lol
Animals are amazing creatures and I don't science has yet to begin to understand the full complexity of their natures and how they work. I hope this cat has eight more lives left to spend with it's family.

Cats have the ability to find their way home by intaking the air. I had seen a show on animal planet how cats do this. I witnessed it when my husband and me went camping and brought out cat Jake with us. The whole trip he was inhaling air, his mouth was opened the whole time, thatis when he wasn't screaming Ironically, we decided to leave the camp site earlier than planned, that's another story. My husband put Jake in the cage and we took off. Just before we got to the highway, about two miles from the campsite, we heard someone yell hey. My husband ignored it and we went on our way. After driving for abou 35 miles, my husband looked back and said where is Jake. I lost it, I thought my kitty had jumped out of the window and was hit on the highway. We made a mad U turn and headed back to the campsite, I didn't want to look at the highway, because I did not want to see my cat as roadkill. We got back to the campsite and was asking around if anyone had seen our cat. A man, said I saw your cat jump out of the truck just before you reached the highway, he must have been the person that yelled. I couldn't stop crying. We looked in the woods with our flashlights and kept calling his name. We got back to our campsite, which was again about two miles from the road. The headlights on my husband's truck was still on, and lo and behold who came out of the woods but Jake, looking at us like where have you been. Jake was able to find his way back to the exact spot when we were camped. We were so happy to see him, we both were crying.
Good story, glad they got their kitty back.

Wow jerz, That is a beautiful kitty! What a great story!
It made me cry! Those poor people and that poor kitty!
They missed 9 years of being together. How sad! I hope
that kitty lives a long time so that they can spend a
lot more time together to make up for all that time
they lost. I don't know what I would have done if
I lost another of my babies. It's bad enough I have
had to put 3 to sleep already. That was the hardest
thing I have ever had to do.

I know what you mean. My 22-yr-old has lost a lot of weight during the past 9 months and I am worried about her health. But, without a job, I can't afford a vet, so I keep her as happy and as healthy as I can. She is still happy, playful, loving, eats like a horse, etc. So, if she's not in pain and is otherwise happy, then I am happy for her. Her life will be natural and hopefully so will the end.

My son used to have a cat named Bear and he left but came back but I think only because he was a big ole tom cat. My daughter had a cat and a few years ago she took off and never come back, which was not like her at all to do that. She had a little wild streak in her so I know that she was not taken for her being so loving and gentle. Even our neighbors were looking out for her and no one saw her. It would not surprise me if she didn't show up one day but I doubt she will.
