Because of all of the stress that I have been dealing with lately, I have not seen a doctor in about a year. This morning, I was doing my hair back in one ponytail. Because my hair is so thick, it was quite a task. At some point, I guess I some how strained myself and got the most horrible pain in my chest. It scared me, but good.
Then, my right arm started hurting. I thought, alright if it were the left side, it would be an attack. The only thing I knew for sure was that I was not in the mood to go to the emergency room. So here I am, my heart is still hurting and I still don't know what it is. When I turned my head and do some of the most simple things, it hurts bad.
I never knew how much a little movement could effect the chest area. I am thinking that it is gas or a strained muscle. I am not willing to accept anything more serious than that. If it continues on Friday, I will make an appointment on Monday, but I really believe that it is simply gas. What do you think?

Gas? I've never had my arm hurt due to gas. I would make an appointment as soon as you can if it doesn't go away because chest pain can be anything from something weak to something very serious. But as for gas, that generally makes my lower stomach hurt, not my heart and certainly not my arm. I hope everything is okay though.

Well the pain is really bothering especially that you feel it to be in the chest pain. If you really want to know it is best that you consult it with your doctor as soon as possible. It is really difficult to detect it has something to do with the heart because the symptoms may become as simple as your or just stomach pain at times but in reality it is from the heart that emanates the problem.

Well if do not know its more frightening especially is your already feel some of it yourself. For me knowing is so much a better option than not knowing but you have doubts if it is really the problem or not. So what if the doctor would say it is just a sprain that emanated from somewhere else in your body at least you know it is not from where you were suspecting it to be. So I suggest you have it known than refusing to know what causes the problem.

rozie you might have pulled a muscle in your chest as I did one time trying to get something out from under the bed.It felt just like I had broken a rib, it hurt so much so I finally went to my doctor. He examined me,told me I had not broken a rib but pulled a muscle and brusied one of my ribs. He put me on a muscle relaxant and the pain was gone in several days. never feel silly over health concerns, just go see your doctor. thatis what he or she is there for.

Rozie37, I will try to tell you,if its not on your left side,it may not be a heart
attack.I have had heart problems since I was old enough to realize what pain was.I
never like to give advice on a Heart situation,as we are all different. So as an old
person whom many people doubted for years, they finally admitted,I did have heart
attacks, but would not swear to it,as they would not want to take responsability.
Thus, after a Quad B-Pass and a Main Aorta Valve replacement, all in different years
I am for the first time,living a normal life,as I have reasons to believe.Still,my
pains varied greatly, but not so much in the right arm. However, you can not rule it out. There are other things which can strain the heart.Maybe you are leading to a
stroke or a seizure, which is coming on,so you best see a Surgeon Heart Doctor,to gi
ve you testing. Its best to be safe, not sorry.I have had multiple small strokes, whic
h reacted in similiar ways to yours.Right now,I have bad Siactic Nerves, and the pai
ns kneel me to the ground. My history of heart problems, were actually little to do with the right side, however the pains will cross over from left to right,in the
chest. Some of it may be your lungs,or perhaps you have trouble breathing, which will
cause the heart to work harder. Please do not wait to be checked, this is your life.
Dont second guess, and take advice from a doctor, who can tell you. James

Thank you for sharing. It sounds like you have experienced a lot, health wise. I do have trouble breathing at times, when my Asthma is acting up. I hope that this had nothing to do with my lungs though. I believe it was a strained. It still hurts a little today, but not nearly as bad as yesterday.

The first time I thought I was having a heart attack was a few years ago. My chest was hurting so so bad. It was in the middle of the night and I wasn't in the mood to go the emrgency room either. So, I somehow managed to get to the kitchen and drank some water. If felt alittle better so I decided to drink milk. The pain went away after a couple hours..looking back, I think it was first HEART BURN. But if your chest area is still hurting, maybe you should have it checked out. Take care.

No I don't think you are being silly, I went to the doctor a few years ago now because firstly I had a cough and I had a few nose bleeds and palpatations, I thought i was very healthy but when she took my blood pressure she almost went into shock, she said i was so close to a stroke she made me lay down...I never had hight blood pressure before, i didn't even think about it...always good to get things checked...

Stress and fatigue will do that, but if it lasts longer than five minutes you should get to the emergency room. I am willing to believe with you however that it is a strain or it is gas. I would take a gas-x pill, or stir some baking soda in water, or drink a soda. If it is gas it would relieve it. For just in case precautions, I would have chewed one regular aspirin. I realize that this is a day late in response, and I do not see anything from you for today, that is Friday. Hope you are okay.

It could be a panic attack sense there is so much going on in your life with your appartment and everything. If it keeps on hurting please go to the ER or get to your doctor. I will keep you in my prayers Rosie.

The pain is much better now. I believe that it was some kind of strain. I was doing neck exercises earlier and that would casue it to hurt again. I am glad that I have not had any major anxiety attacks behind all this mess. I know that it is only through the grace of God that I haven't.

If you have dizziness with fainting I would take it in. It sounds like you just pulled a muscle and spasmed it that much more. I hope whatever it is gets better. Just remember the signs of a heart attack in women. God Bless!

It sounds like a pulled muscle to me. I do not think if it were your heart it would hurt when you turn your head. I have done that before, maybe trying to pick something up in an awkward position and then get a pain. What you are feeling could most likely be muscle strain. Of course if you are not feeling any differently you should seek medical attention.
When I was working I had to use the hole punch machine for hundreds of papers. Whenever I tried to do more than 30 sheets I really had to strain to get the hole punched. A few days later I experienced the worse pain in my side. I could not even lay on that side when I tried to go to sleep. A couple days later I had more holes to punch. When I did it, I felt the pressure where the pain was coming from, then I knew I had pulled a muscle. For your sake I hope it is something as simple as a pulled muscle.
Take care.

Oh, and with the heart the pain is in the center of your chest. A lot of people think that it is a pain on the left side. You will experience, but the main pain is in the center of the chest.

Hello; Its good and hopeful only strained muscle.or gas.The main biggy, may be that
you are stressed out. Why? Is it worth it,to be so stressed out.You must keep your
things in life, under control, though yes I know how you must feel.We all have stress
and most of it is manufactured by ourselves. You must just stop worry'ing so much as
most things in life have a duration of a few days, and usually disapaited within two weeks,as who would like to drag it on and on.This also may not be of your doing
so maybe you have no control over the problems you may be associated with.I worry alot also,so at times,it has to be capped.and we have to remember we have a life to
live, same as everyone.Stress can be bad,as Here where I am living, there is very few
things not to stressed over.Everyday is a stressful day,so at times,I too must chan
ge my routines, which are very few.Even if I take the bus,and go somewhere,I have no
idea, which bus to go to many places, and whenever I talk to the people they do not understand English. The things also where my real home is,things are not taken care
of,and my daughter is always to busy to help me.So please stop your stress points,
same as I do,and have one day,without any,Mark these days,as the ones.I Dont Care!!

I usually have stress free days, but I have been dealing with this issue for four months now. It seems to hang on, but it is teaching me a deeper level of trust in God. So nothing is happening in vain. Thanks for your support and I hope you feel better soon.

You should definitely get it checked out. Even if it is gas, that can be serious too. Due to the fact that you are under a lot of stress, that can have an effect on so many things. I had the disease that they call GERD, gastro esophaegeal reflux disease. I had such bad pains I thought I was having a heart attack. I ended up going to a specialist and ultimately having surgery. I am much better now. If you want to wait and see, try the over the counter Prilosec. If this doesn't help you feel better in a few days, you definitely need to go see the doctor. Good luck and keep us posted.
