I was playing the National Anthem and my 4th grader askes me "Mommy what are you singing?". What, what I have to think to my self for a minute befor I even responed. My daughter bring an Amry brat and proud of it in school has never not once ever heard of the National Anmthem. Of all days to hear this on Sept 11th. So I take a deep breathe and I answer all her questions as best as I can. To find she has no idea about any of it but what I taught her. The school has even brought up Betsy Ross, why we have American flag ,let alone the National Anthem. Why do we have history and socal studies to not at least have some of this tought by this point. To think of all the people for have been in the military for this country they would and must be disappointed I know I am.

Didn't you know we live in a country we should be ashamed of? Yes, I'm being sarcastic. One of our presidential candidates' wives thinks so and the candidate himself probably does too.
It's just another sign of the times. The history they teach in school now is not the same history we learned in school. It makes leaves me with a sick feeling.

Agreed it leaves you with a sick feeling. Dont even want to image what is to come next. And it so sad to feel this way. We are one nation reguardless of anything else. We all seem to have no idea how to stop it evn though we dont like it. So we just live each day and watch are lives fall apart. Why because everyone want to fight for what they want and what they belive instead of us all pulling together as one for the greater good.. That all being said I am still proud of what we have done in the past, an the fact that there is still hope. We need to fight the battles with in are country to pull it together AND being Ashamed will not help one little bit.If your ashamed you are not proud and have lost all hope. There for they have no right to want to rule over this country let alone do it.

I don't know how things are in the US but I know here in Australia a lot of country pride has been lost because certain things are not allowed to be done so as not to offend others..this makes me go crazy, they are trying to stop Christmas celebrations , and the pride of our flag, one man was going to be fined for putting up an Aussie flag on his own property, so of course all the neighbours went out and bought Aussie flags to put up...I don't really know ehat this world is coming to....

My husband just walked in the door and read wat you wrote he says to tell you thats total BULL CRAP. Crap being the nicer word. I agree. We all should be proud of are flags land and country man. Yet all the pride is being taken away. I dont know what an Aussie flag is but if i did and it is good stand sure Id be one of them neihbours puting one up too. Dont even think about messing with Christmas well if i ever run to another country to get away from this I know to not come there unless it changes there too. I'm very sorry its that way there too.

Yes it is awful a friend of mine belongs to a community club and last Christmas they were told not to wear tinsell and there would be no Christmas tree because it might offend other cultures....that made me very mad....

That is sad, but I can't help but wonder why she didn't hear it at home?

She has heard it at home but as being a child is normaly playing or out side any of the number of things children do. I would have pushed the teaching of it earlyer if I had, had any doubt that the school had not done so already. Can say I know many people that play the National Anthem as a daily song. I personal dont turn on music everyday. Let alone between 4 pm and 8 pm which are the times my children are home from school and then to bed. Even then we have homework, dinner time and bath time. But I will find away to teach what is important if the school does not.
