Meet The Newest Member of My Family!

Sherbert Jr. - Although the original Sherbert will be greatly missed, I have my little buddy back in a sense thanks to my hubby. :)

A few discussions back I talked about my cat Sherbert, who was chased out into the street by a bunch of kids and sadly Sherbert was hit by a passing vehicle. The vet did everything she could, but Sherbert had to be humanely euthanized. My heart hurt greatly after the loss of my dear friend and cat, and even though I do have several other cats about to keep me company and who did help heal my heart a bit, I still fell into a bit of a depression over missing my little buddy Sherbert. A few weeks ago, my husband surprised me with a new little kitten (pictured below), who surprisingly looks almost identical to Sherbert. So I have affectionately named the little guy Sherbert Jr. Although Sherbert Jr.'s personality greatly differs from Sherbert Sr.'s it's almost like having my little buddy back. He follows me everywhere I go in the house (like a little furry shadow), and basically just likes to spend his days with me when I am awake, even now as I type he's snoozing away on my lap. What are some of the things your loved ones have done to cheer you up after losing a beloved pet?

Aww--Sherbert, Jr. is a sweetie. Amazing that as you say he looks like your former kitty...maybe his reincarnation? And it sounds as if he's made himself at home real fast, including snoozing on your lap Well I haven't gotten a new kitty in years..my landlord won't allow for more that two cats. But years ago whenever one of my furbabies went to Rainbow Bridge, my mother would take the kitty to the vet to get cremated....and...never came home empty handed...She always adopted a new kitty even though we already had others at home

Sherbert Jr. - Sherbert Jr. just after awaking from his nap
It's almost as if Sherbert Jr. could in fact be a reincarnation of Sherbert Sr., he has the exact some markings, facial features, and eye color as Sherbert Sr. The only real difference I have noticed is the personality. Sherbert Sr. was more laid back and didn't much care for playing, Sherbert Jr. is all about playing and possibly my other indoor cats think of him as a little terror . I'm here all the time, with the exception of having to go out and pay bills and grocery shop, so not to surprised to how quickly Sherbert Jr. made himself right at home. He's still gets scared if like my Mother-in-law or my husband's Uncle comes over, but I'm sure with regular visit from them, he will eventually get use to them being around to. I've always been one that always liked to wait before getting a new pet, since I tend to get overly emotional and didn't think I could give the new animal the full love and attention it deserved. So it shocked me when my husband showed up with Sherbert Jr. seeing as he knows how I am. Fortunately, Sherbert Jr. won me over quickly and I'm glad to have him as a part of the family. The attached picture was taken on the same day as the one attached to the original post. This was just after he awoke from his nap, as you can tell. Ignore the dork in the background, that's just me and my goofy smile..lol!

Awwww, your new kitty is adorable. I have two like that. Pumpkin whom is about 10 and Carly whom is about 3. Carly is a little stink pot. She loves to get into things and definately is boss of the household and other cats. I'm sorry for your loss. But I am glad you have a new friend and he has you. I have to say, it must be a nice life to just lay about in a persons lap all day and purr. Blessings, Carolyn

Thanks Carolyn I have another cat named Cheyenne who thinks she is boss of the house and lets everyone know it too. But deep down she's really a little sweetheart when she wants to be. I certainly wouldn't mind having my cat's life lol, but in the end I'm also happy with my own life too.

I have always considered my cats, like they were one of my children. When one of them passes it's like I lost one of my children. I sure love having cats around.

Oh! What a little angel! He's beautiful! I'm in love! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss with Sherbet Sr. I have two girls who are my first pets and they mean the world to me. I can't bear the thought of ever losing one of them. I hope your new bundle of love helps to heal your heart and that you have many happy years together.

Thanks Phaedra I hope you have many long years with your girls. They are certainly a joy to have around. I still miss Sherbert Sr., probably always will, but having Sherbert Jr. around has really helped in healing the hole I felt left inside my heart when Sherbert Sr. passed.
