Juice!...Do you drink when you are on medicine?

September 12, 2008 6:47am CST
Drinking juice dramatically reduses the effectiveness of drugs used to treat cancer, heart conditions and hypertension. Researches had shown that orange, apple and grapefruit juice can also wipe out the benefits of some antibiotics and hay-fever pills. They stop drugs from entering bloodstream and getting to work in the body. The potential effects are so serious and researchers have warned that if in doubt, patients should swap fruit juices for water when on medicine.

I agree with you because citric acid and carbonated juice drinks indeed affects the chemical property of medicines but as far as I can remember, my OB instructed to take Iron pill with a glass of juice so that the ferrous will be easily absorbed in the bloodstream.
