On Sovereignty

When we come to know from the media that one of our defense ministers was forced to be checked at a foreign airport prior to his entry in the country concerned I am ashamed. It had happened with Mr. George Farnandez some years back in his tour to the USA. The sadder aspect of the phenomenon is that he could not raise his voice either at the airport where he had such bizarre encounter and nor even in his motherland after his return. And after a long silence we have come to this episode of humiliation from the western press only. And we have decided to maintain silence, the silence of the coward.
Learning this I have begun to dig into my heart to know if we are really independent or not and if the sovereignty of our country has any positive value or if we are living in a time when most of the countries are forced to accept limited sovereignty.
