Yesterday Weighed Heavily On Me!

Well yesterday was a day that I wished had not happened to a point. It weighed heavily on my mind, heart, and sopirit. I was not in the best of spirits emotionally and or spiritually. The reasons are as follows. It was the 7th anniversary of the Terrorist attcks on NY City. All the news reports and services made my heart heavy with sorrow. Then the thoiught of the new 35W highway bridge here is set to open very soon. Aug 1 last year this major highway bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River killing 13 and injuring 145 more. So that weighed heavily on my heart, soul, and spirit as well. Then the issue with dad having some health issues hit me hard as well. I did make it thorugh the day with help from being omn myLot and all. I just wish to thank friends and others here for being here when someone really needs the support. Thanks all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

That's what friends are far, there for each other. I find even if a friend is there to be a sounding board for me to talk to, they don't even have to say a word but those words of kindness do tend to make things a little brighter.

I kept the TV and radio off yesterday except for a movie on cable just because I knew it would be hard on me. I was blessed that no one I knew was directly involved but from the time the first report came on the tv (I was working at elementary school in the computer lab) I kept trying to contact my son in the USAF. I just knew we weren't going to set back and do nothing after that. Can kinda laugh now - I finally called base and the connected me to Shannon's CO. Later that night Shannon called and first thing out of his mouth was, "Mom don't ever do that again, PLEASE." The message posted for him said "CALL YOUR MOMMY". Guess it took some time for him to get over the ribbing for that.

Last night I watched a show on the History channel called "120 minutes that changed the world." It was film, recordings, and witnesses personal things as this event happened. Very chiliing. And also very graphic as bodies etc were shown by home videos etc. A very great show which I plan on getting the DVD soon. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

I don't like to watch any of those kind of shows - I felt like I was living it at the time it happened. The principal instructed all the staff and teachers to turn tvs and such off as they didn't want the kids getting the news (felt it was best left up to individual parents). But there was a tv in the computer lab so everyone kept coming in there when I didn't have a class and turning it on to see what was going on.

You're such a kind, giving person that sometimes we don't even think about how strained you are. All we think is how we miss your discussions, and we hope you are all right. But I admire your willingness to persevere, and I pray that you will be strengthened in the times ahead.

Oh my family soesn't even know really how strained/stressed I am. I hide it and deal with it very well. But last night I did mention this same topic to my wife. Then all she wanted to do was talk about the theories etc. I cut that short by going outside for a smoke. She did apologiize though. Thanks bunches as well for being here at times when I or others ned it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Things do have a habit of happening all at once, I think that for a lot of people yesterday was a pretty grim day. For me it was sad as there were lots of programmes on that relived it all and it is just as shocking and sad watching it now as it was when it happened. I was lucky in that I never had any loved ones involved in it but it was still just as awful seeing those that did. I hope that you are OK now, although I know it must be hard with your Dad's health issues, I am not very good with comforting words so I will just let you know that I think of you.

yes. it was a day of sorrow and reflection. it was a day of rememberance. it was, and is, a day we should never forget. we all had a tough time. the news, and alot of my e-mails were very sad with the personal remembrances, prayers, too. you exceeded your limit via news of your father. i'm glad, in some small way, i could be here for you. and, know that i will continue my well wishes and prayers for you and your family.

Oh I will never forget it. I had a friend from a wb site here that I chatted with after this happened. He stated some chilling things he saw to me that stick in my head to this day. But I make it. It was just there was so much stuff on the TV, radio, and the web that I did not want nor need to hear again,. The services and what not were great. To hear talk of conspiracies and the like was not my cup of tea. It happened no matter how is my thoughts. Anyhow then the other things did not help my heart at all. Thanks bunches friend. Yesturday was a sad day, I remembered off and on thru out the day too. Its hard to believe its been 7 yrs. already. Sometimes it seems like yesturday and other times it seems like a lifetime ago when it all happened. I have family things going on to that concerns me. I am also so thankful for finding mylot. Mylot and my friends here have helped me so much. People that are not a part of this community have a hard time understanding that. We do become "real" friends here. We learn about each other, we care about each other, we are there for each other when we need a friendly ear or some advice. Many of us pray for each other. I hope you get to feeling better. Chin up, soon you will be shoveling snow, that will make you happy. You can also dream and plan your next garden. Take care.

Today is a new day. 9/11 will live for us a long time. I think if I lived near your bridge it would be on my mind a lot. From that accident though, much good is happening around the country. Lots of bridges are being repaired and reinforced, possibly saving many more lives. Any time you need to talk about your Dad, you know there will be friends here for you.

My son crossed that brifge 45 minutes prior to it's collapse. That was too close for me and him as well. I won't get into details about Government money for bridge work here. Other than to say it has now been stated that funds here are going to bridges that need just minor repairs while some serious problem bridges aren't getting the funds. Thats the end of that tale. Thanks bunches as well friend. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

You are so very welcome. I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I seen the second plane come in and hit the tower on the news live that morning. I was so scared that the U.S. was under full attack. I hope you are feeling alot better today. I wish your dad well also.

Yes, yesterday was a very sad day and it still hurts. Every time I pass by "ground zero" it brings back so many bad memories. I too kept busy on mylot and it helped to get me through another sad anniversary.

I'm sorry you found the the day so hard. I spent time with my mom, helped the roommate and took a beloved cat to the vet for more meds. I still am feeling the effects of my recent surgery, and think I've got a sinus infection - for which I don't have the $$ to go to the doctor. I think a nap might be in order.

Good hot soup would benefit the sinus issue. A cup of tea with lemon and ginger root also does wonders. Hope ya feel better soon. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Yesterday was not the best day for me either, yes with all the news going on about WTC brings back the scene when all those people hanging out the windows shouting for help and there was no help for them, I was looking at people was going to die before my very eyes, I have had nightmares about that for months, and 6 years ago we had buried my mother on 9/11, so how can I ever forget that date? but we must carry on and look to the future and I hope your fater will improve with medical care and if you want to talk we are here your friends at Mylot, hope you feel ok soon. Hello Bob, I do hope you're feeling much better now. Things like this are happening all over the world now, in small as well as big ways. It is really a sad thing. If only people could accept each other for themselves, how happy everyone would be. People should spend more time in prayer. There would be no attacks. I just pray everyday for peace in our world. My prayers are there for you too.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I'm sorry you're going through so much right now. I know that yesterday was a rough day for you. I live in NY and it was a sad day to remember knowing that is was September 11th again. I remember hearing about the bridge collapse. That was really terrible too. I saw it on the news when it happened and it was horrible. I also know that you are very upset about your Dad. I am praying for him. I hope that the news won't be too bad. You know that you have lots of friends here on the lot and that we will all be here for you if you need us. So try to take it easy and try to keep your Dad as comfortable as you can. The rest is in God's hands. You need to be strong and take care of yourself too! Your friend, Opal

I have to agree. Every Year on 911 it is so hard for many of us. Everyone you speak to remembers exactly what they were doing when they heard that the first plane hit. Some were at their television to see the second one hit. It is a very sad memory that lots will never get over. The good thing is that pulled together as a Nation. And gained strength from each other. I remember seeing on the news that Bridge collapsing it was a nightmare. So many hurt. and more could have been killed. Then your going through a lot daily with your father, that is hard to cope with. You do the best you can for him. But you want to do more for him. It is just hard to watch a loved one age, and not be able to do for their self like they use to, and how they want to. Your in my thought and prayers.
