How do you judge your friend?

"A friend in need is friend indeed," is an age old saying. How do you really judge your friends? These days normally one has many friends, but again making catagories would be a rather lowly act. In this context then friends are those who see each other often and morally or if I say, psychologically help each other whenever situation arises, are the true friends. Because, needs of the society and individuals have changed. However, if in case a situation arises where one needs substantial help, the matter becomes tricky for both. In such a situation only a true friend will remain with you and would provide you with whatever you may need. Is that true?
