These days of dvds and blue-ray. Videos are now considered old fashioned.
A while ago we were doing a car boot sale and i got talking to an elderly man who was telling me that he did not like Dvds, as he has brought a film on Dvd and it had jumped alot.It ruined the film for him.
He then said that he was going to stick with videos as he much prefered them.
Do you still watch them, do you still have a video recorder in your house?
We have one up in our sons room which they very rarely use.

Wow. A film. I still remember our BetaMax and VHS.
I guess it is just a matter of preference. But, I admit, it is more convenient to be up-to-date. Innovations are making our lives much easier and faster.

BetaMax that brought back some memories. That was the first ever video player we had. It was a top loading one. It seems ancient now.
I don't think he gave it a chance but as i said before i think some people like to stick with what they know.

We have a duel dvd/vcr in my daughters room and she watches the old walt disney videos on there. I do like getting vhs tapes from the library instead of dvds because it seems like everytime we get a dvd from the library it skips or does not work. I think vhs tapes hold up better when people aren't careful with them like when some people get them from the library. However I do miss just putting the dvd in and watching the movie. I hate having to speed through all of the previews at the beginning and then rewinding the tape at the end.

That is a pain but i find you have to do that with some DVDs as they have previews at the start.

I guess that elderly man also goes to the teller instead of using the atm machine, that he never uses a debit card and always pays with cash and uses a lot of pennies. We have that type here in Winnipeg. I have some vhs tapes and a vhs tape machine but I do not use it. I am gradually replacing my tapes with dvds. The trouble is that there is one show I got on vhs that is not available for dvd yet. And so I have to keep that video recorder if I want to watch it.

I think you will find that type all over the place. Some people seem happy to stick with what they are familiar with.

No we no longer have a video player, we have dvd and we only recently got rid of all the videos that we did have. Dvds are a bit of a pain if they get a scratch or a mark on them as they do jump and skip, I actually think that the video was a lot more resiliant and could take quite a beating and they would still work!

I don't watch video tapes any more. Video recorder at my house broke few years ago. After it broke we buy vcd player. Before this, my family will usually will rent video tapes and watch movies together. Now we seldom do that because we all are busy and I already went to university.

I most definitely still use video tapes. I have an older T.V. , one that came with a video recorder/player built in. I got it when it was all the rage! I find that dvds can be really expensive, and not worth the money sometimes. At my local video store you can get all of these great movies/tv shows/etc. on video tape for .50 cents each! Thats a really good bargain compared to 19.99 and up. I do have a small DVD player that cost me about 15.00 dollars that hooks up to the tv. But it doesn't record, or do any of that. So I guess you could say I still prefer video tapes.

Yes. I have several tapes that I recorded - a rod Stewert concert, a few movies I recorded from HBO, some specials. Sure, I could have them converted to DVDs, but at $20 each it would cost hundreds of dollars. I have a combination VCR/DVD player.

I should imagine it would cost alot to convert them. And if they still play i dont see why you need to convert them as long as you are happy with them.
Thanks for the reply.

I still watch VHS movies and own quite a few. I also own 2 vcrs, one with vhs/dvd and one that is only vhs. Oh yeah, I also own a combo tv that plays vhs. I don't mind watching the old vhs tapes and from time to time I rent dvd's, like tonight.....I rented 5 dvd's for 5 days for 5 bucks! I just love the video store I go to. I still buy vhs tapes if the deals are good as I find that the dvd's are still too expensive!!

You got a good deal there. We have a shop here that does second hand DVDs so they are not too expensive. And the good thing about it is you can trade in your DVDs for cash or vouchers to spend in the shop. Its hard to find video tapes here.

Do you prefer Dvds?. Do you think you would go back to watching them or did that put you off?
Thank you for your response.

Yes we still watch video tapes in our house, some of my all time films we still have on video. The children have loads of films on video, some we have taped off the tv for them. We also still have four video players in our house along side the dvd players

I also still have programmes on videos that i have taped. I have a whole series on video that i have yet to see on DVD. My children prefer DVDs but now and again they will see a film they like on video and will get it as it is not avaliable on DVD.
Thank you for your response.

Hardly ever. We still have maybe 20-30 videos, children's video. So, yes we still have a vcr player. It's a VCR/DVD combo. I sold five of our videos on ebay. But can't seem to sell the others. Maybe I can sell them at a garage sell for $0.50 a piece.

I know that problem we have also had trouble selling our videos. People just don't seem to want them anymore. Good luck if you have a garage sale i hope that you manage to sell them.
Thank you for your response.

I have 2 vcrs one built into a tv and the other a stand alone. We use them just as much as we do our dvd player. We have more videos than dvds as well so it kinda makes sense that we use our vcr's lol. Whenever I buy a new movie it is usually on dvd rather than video just because they take less space than a video.

I still have a VCR, although I don't use it anymore. We bought a VCR/DVD combo a while back and it's not active because our PS3 is plugged-in as a BluRay player, but we still have a VCR and I still own some movies on VHS. We don't use it often, if ever; matter-of-fact, I cannot remember the last time we used it. But we still do have it around because every now and then there are still movies only available on VHS that we may want to or need to watch.

Thats why we keep our video recorder as like you we have found that some movies have not made it to dvd yet.
Thank you for your input.

We gave the VCR to my son as we never used it. My son hardly if even watchs VCR Tapes anymore. Even the DVD Player we don't use it all that often. Maybe one every couple months we will rent DVD's.
As for Blue-Ray, we don't even own a HD TV so there would be no point.

I not watch film or movie by use video tape anymore.I like to use vcd.It is easy and cheap.Today,in my country, it is hard to find any video tape shop again.Maybe the challenge from other new technology shop like vcd,dvd make the shopper like them stop their business and open the new shop sell vcd and dvd. That's why i dont watch by video tapes anymore.
