For the hundreth time...I am not for McCain or Mrs. thing...but...
I really see him as a user...check it out...
Hillary didn't win the nomination...so why not get a woman nominated for VP, this way everyone who wanted Hillary (simply because she's a woman) will absolutely go for it since he is what? 70ish? On his passing she would automatically become the next Pres.
It's a joke...his views, her views seem to conflict a lot!!
I'm for Obama...at least I KNOW what he's about!
Go ahead myLotters bash me...go ahead...I'm waiting...

McCain made a great pick. She is consertive and brings the Republican Base into support McCain. She has executive experience, which none of the other 3 have. She is a self made woman who worked her way up in politics. She is everything the liberals say a woman should be except she has consertive values. Also she is a Washington Outsider which the American People say the want. Senator Obama could have selected a female Governor, there are 6 democrat governors who are female, why did 't he. He was looking for someone older to contrast his youth, someone with foreign relations background, someone the liberal base would support, and someone from a different part of the country. Both men used a similar process to select the VP.

Whoo...me who has no party, affiliation and who is often just an observer...commenting. *will wait and see who comes on to argue with me over this one as well)
Alrighty, I agree. Palin is being used, she's probably happy to be used because it earns her brownie points politically (now THAT'S f*cked up).
Also, I'm not sure it does conflict with her views since McCain SEEMS to hae a tendency to go against women's issues, at least...in these last two years he has (lets not get into that McCain vs. McCain topic)
The equal pay thing, reversal on roe vs. wade...
Palin SEEMS to agree with his latest positions on these matters...though I suppose since she's an unknown we can still hope she might change her mind as well.
Also: I don't think it was necessarily stupid for McCain politically. His goal was to roll in some of the Hillary voters and solidify his conservative base. He's done that. Not all the Hillary voters, mind, just the most vidictive ones. And I won't throw a fit over that, because it says quite alot.
Like I've said before -- I could've agreed with the McCain of years ago on alot of issues, and it would've improved my thoughts about him. But the McCain of 2008...I just can't. I've apologized to those who love him. But I really can't.
So you get a hug from me too, Gwoman. Even though I have no support to offer in solidarity for Obama, either, lmao.

i wouldnt vote for her just because she is a woman. what concerns me is she just had a baby in april, her 17 year old daughter just had a baby. how is the woman going to find time to be a mommy to her what is it, 5 kids? be a grandmother AND help run the country. something or someone is going to suffer from the lack of time and or focus that will be given.

I pretty much agree with you that McCain is just using her as a tactical move- he has no real desire to advance women, he just wanted to get voters. Not only that, but she's a pretty obscure person- I mean, up until this point, who had really even heard of her? She wouldn't have been an obvious choice for VP.
Bottom line for me is that I don't like either McCain or Palin or their views or policies. Not that I agree with Obama on everything, but I disagree with him less than I disagree with McCain. I guess that's just how this politics thing works.

Hi Thyst07,
thank you for your response...yes that's how politics are :-(
As you can tell I'm not too politically inclined nor do I have the smarts of some here but I believe I know what I want and that is fairness and equality for all!
I believe in my heart that Obama will meet this criteria.

I'm not going to bash you because I feel the same way. Actually, I think Palin had two things going for her as far as McCain was concerned...she's female and she's acceptable to the religious right who would not have accepted Romney because of his religion.

Well gwoman I'm in agreement with you but also would like to add that Rove is probably pro drilling in Alaska and what better way to get what you want.

Sarah Palin is a gimmick in all this. McCain was losing and needed some trick to at least stay competitive.
Nice trick, nice try.

I am not stating my position in any way here....
but speaking to the idea of your message, it's politics and everybody uses everybody.
I would like to think that the man running for the highest office in our nation would be smart enough to know that very few Hillary supports (if any) would agree with anything about Palin politics in any way. As a woman, I am offended at the idea that women would vote for a woman just because she's a woman. No offense in your direction, gwoman2..... this is certainly not the first place that has been discussed.

Totally!
OMG, I 100% agree with you!
At the Republican national convention they really didn't talk about much besides trying to tear down Obama's plans. It left me asking "If you think Obama's plans are not going to work, then WTH are you going to do about those issues!"

Bash you no.
McCain's age is a concern of mine as well. Palin has her own issues going on with her pregnant teenager. Some peculations about the father or her daughter's child is African American. And that Palin doesn't agree with their union and attempting to bring some Caucasian boy to act as the father. The real funny part is if it true, the baby won't be born until after the election. Plus if it is true, would that be grounds for impeachment? Because of the race card that will be drawn out?!
I haven't completely decided on who to vote for. I am interested in seeing a African American in the highest level of office, yes. But just because I would like that doesn't mean I will vote for hims just because he is.
I see that Obama is a graceful speaker, he isn't rattled by the media and other attacks he has gone through as the democratic nominee.
I give you kudos, thou, because your discussion is very controversial and many mylotters I'm sure will either agree, or disagree with you.
I trust God that the right candidate that will do the most good for the American people (no matter what color they are) and that he grants me enough wisdom to be intelligent enough to vote for that person. Irregardless of how they much they both cover-up some of their responses, just to sway voters. True character will be revealed one either of them take office.
