We just got a computer for my sons room and tried getting internet on his pc via a router. It just won't work. We've troubleshooted, looked online for solutions. The brand of the router is Linskys. Anyone familiar with this and have any suggestions on getting it to work? We used it at our old house, but now can't get it to work.

First, ensure you have power to the router. (I'm rather certain you know that much, bear with me.)
Second, plug the "Big Fat Phone-like Cable" (RJ47) into the computer's Network Card. (The computer, if on, should pop up a message in the lower right hand corner indicating that a Local Area Network has been found.
Third, plug the "Big Fat Phone-like Cable" from the Modem/DSL from the service provider into the WAN (Wide Area Network) port on the back of the router. There should be 1 to 4 LAN (Local Area Network) ports and 1 WAN port. If you don't plug the RJ47 cable in at the right place, the Router won't be able to 'find' the internet.
.....
If this doesn't work, you might have a bat "Big Fat" cable at one of the steps. You might try hooking up the son's computer directly to the "Big Fat" cable that comes out of the DSL/Cable Modem box. (Bypassing the router.) This might help identify the router (instead of the computer's Network card) as the source of the problem.
Hope this helps.
PS: My hubby typed this Foxtrot. He used to do this for a living. I knew he'd have an answer Sometimes it looks like an instruction manual doesn't it?

Thank you so much. I am going to have my boyfriend tackle all that. I'd probably make the problem worse lol! Tell your hubby thanks for the info and I will let you know if it works.

did you tried to connect the internet to the "WAN" slot...if the WAN led light blinks again and again meaning it's ok...just try to all the "rj45"(UTP) in the slot.....maybe that can work...
